Publisher's summary

Unlike the rest of her family, Maggie Walsh has always done the right thing - that is until the day she leaves her husband and takes refuge with her friend Emily, a screenwriter in Los Angeles - a city where even the palm trees are skinny. Soon Maggie's doing all sorts of things she's never done before, such as wearing sunglasses in the shower and pitching scripts to studio executives - and meeting a mysterious man named Troy, who is so non-stick he's known as Human Teflon.

I love the Walsh family

Would you listen to Angels again? Why?

Yes I would listen to it again

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked all of them, but Maggie was the best

Any additional comments?

This was a great story about another one of the Walsh girls. I just love these stories :)

Good girl gone wild, but riding the brakes

Would you try another book from Marian Keyes and/or Gerri Halligan?

Absolutely! I'm a big fan of Keyes' work. Halligan however had a hard time with different American accents, it kind of pulled me out of the story at times.

If you’ve listened to books by Marian Keyes before, how does this one compare?

It was a well-developed story with a main character you could relate to, and while I enjoyed the book, it was not my favorite of hers.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Gerri Halligan?

Maybe if there are no American characters in the story. Maybe if the characters are all Irish.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes please!

Any additional comments?

I loved how Keyes developed the character of Maggie Walsh. As everyone has written her off as the good girl of the family who does everything right, Keyes slowly pulls back the layers of her past to reveal much greater depth to this woman. I thought her a bit scattered and childish in certain parts that seemed uncharacteristic, but could attribute that to anyone going through a life crisis, as this character certainly was. Overall a fun read.

Rom Com Fun

Ah the lovely Lucas sisters! And their parents, functionally dysfunctional, and very funny! I'm going to miss them, having just binge listened to all 5 stories, one for each sister. All good but this was one of my favorites. Any risk of becoming romance novels was rescued by believably eccentric, sarcastic, but loving family. very funny with submerged serious life issues. Read all Five!

Good storyline, humorous and well written

Love this author and this series of family dramas, the Walsh's are always good for a laugh. Well weaved together with the the other books so it doesn't really matter which order u read them. The narrator did a good job with the Irish characters but the American accents were a bit weird. Now I'm just being picky....

My favorite author

Marian Keyes is at it again with another wonderful Walsh girls tale. I love everything she writes and have reread them all multiple times. She’s the best!

So witty

Very entertaining, I can relate to Maggie & I’m continually amazed by the creativity of the way her thoughts are expressed.

Great read, great story

I’ve had the book for years, and I love the author. The reading is dynamic and lifelike. My ONLY nitpick is the reader’s American accent; people from Southern California don’t have the southern accents of Georgia or Texas. But that’s certainly forgivable.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed this story. It could have been a bit more grasping, but I'd listen to it again.

Such a lovely story

Marian has such a way with explaining emotion, you really do feel what they feel. Also I do love a happy ending

VERY late 90s-2000s, in a bad way. Not her best.

So disappointed in this book. After book #2, Rachel’s Holiday, I had such high hopes. This story went on in circles, but the worst part was the extremely cringey body judgement of other characters, lack of empathy, extra cringey narration of the American characters (this woman has seen too many 70s New York mob films), plus so many more unfortunate features. Bummed out.
