I love the books themselves and the Librivox recordings by Karen Savage are by far the very very best. The only problem, there is not a recording of Anne of Windy Poplars in that flavor, so I ended up getting this set. The English accent is really too much for Anne of that era, but could be tolerated except there are many broken places in the reading where her inflections stop a sentence, then start again and truly end the sentence, but it leaves a broken feeling to it and can be hard to follow. Also, the books are not separated, the entire thing runs together up to nearly 300 chapters, so if you want to read a certain book it can take a few minutes to find it. And the other thing is there is no pause between chapters. Such as when chapter 4 is being read of a book it says something like ….and that was the last time five things happened five Anne was so wanting to find …. Etc - the word “five” the second time was to indicate the beginning of chapter five, but it is said so quickly and without pause before or aft that you feel it is part of the sentence and you get discombobulated. Anne read badly is of course better than no Anne at all, but it really does affect how the characters are built and played out. And by all means, please do not watch Anne with an E - such a totally bash of the beautiful storyline that Lucy Maude Montgomery gifted to us! The Sullivan movies will give you the correct vibe with all the good morals, and even though they condense and change the story lines, they stay TRUE to the characters.

Best books, poor narration

I absolutely love Anne series. I grew up with a full set of the books and would have loved to read it again. However as an adult, I just don't have the time. Enter Audiobooks. I found this version with all 8 books and thrilled! Then I started listening. I am so sad that the narrator sounds like she is AI. I wouldn't mind so much if someone had gone through and listened and edited before posting. Her emphasis is misplaced, easy words mispronounced - such as will was "Wha I I'll." I was so confused when I heard that. At times she's monotone when Anne is being emphatic. Mariella was excited when we all know she is mostly calm and collected. This reading just takes me out of the story. On top of that, there's no space between chapters or books. You hear either a number out of the blue or a title that you think is a sentence at first. If you can get past the AI feel of the reader, the series is still very delightful.

Great storey, poor narration

I overall love this classic series. Anne is my favorite character. I bought this set to own all books in one but the narrator mispronounced some words and there were several odd glitches/sounds or cut off words like the recording stopped and started up again in the middle of a word. Is this AI or an unprofessional recording? The cover obviously is AI, but since I like the story I tolerated the narrator. The voice was pleasant enough but had little expression.

Favorite classic story with unprofessional narrator

The narration is very awkward and unnatural, with many mistakes. Also, it doesn’t seem appropriate to have a story that takes place in Canada to be read with a British accent. The slang and dialect are not performed properly. There’s practically no space between the end of one chapter and the number of the next chapter. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out this was read by AI.

Awkward narration, wrong accent

I love the Anne of Green Gables saga and was excited to see the entire box on audible but that’s where the excitement ended.

The narrator doesn’t have enough change in her tone or voice to make out what character is speaking so it’s very hard to track.

There are noticeable edits that cause the audio to be choppy and when the chapter ends, there is no pause. Sentence end and abruptly you hear a number calling out the next chapter.

Wish I could get my credit back for this because 1 credit for this box set was way too much.

Not worth it

I don’t know if it’s the editing or the narration, more than likely a combination of both. Lots of mistakes!!
The actual story is wonderful!

Hard to listen to

While the narrator's vocal qualities were fine, the reading/recording was disjointed. Sentences were paused halfway through and some of the words were misread. One major example throughout the recording was that of the word "pa" (as in dad). 95% of the time it was read "p.a." (as in initials).

I also thought this all inclusive recording would sync with the all inclusive kindle edition, but they do not recognize each other.

While I love the Anne of Green Gables series, I cannot recommend this audio version.

Narrator's voice was fine, but reading was disjointed

It was fun listening to these books. The reader stumbles and breaks up the sentence flow at times, but it’s still a good listen.
