Silly stories

Silly kids stories with lovable characters and subtle moral lessons. Depending on the ages reading these stories they can be strictly silly or open up room for discussion of gender roles and politics.

Initial review - missing sections.

I have the unabridged version of these books on Kindle. I've been comparing a little bit of the audio version to the book. I am now on the third book in this series. In the second book I realized that there were about five pages that were not read. Now in the third book there was about a paragraph or two that was skipped. I don't think there were any missed in The Wizard of Oz. I'm going to continue listening and if there are any more significant sections that are skipped I'm going to ask for a refund.

My daughter’s favorite!

Such a kind and interesting book to listen! And great value for the money (I bought it for a one dollar only for almost 65 hours of listening) you spend.

Love the Oz stories, editing fail

I’ve always loved these books. That said, the audio editing is terrible. It skips sentence, repeats paragraphs, etc. it’s like the person editing wasn’t actually listening.

Outstanding

Great characterizations, stories flow well. An A+ performance. I especially enjoyed Ozma of Oz but am playing the entire saga one by one.

More for Children and thrilled to finally hear the entire series

I see a bunch of folks criticism about the narration. And, as I listen, it has become clear that the narrator is appealing to children, not adults. I am thrilled to finally get to listen to this original set of stories. My state of mind, listening as a child would listen and enjoy! 💕💋

Excellent performance of an Excellent collection!

L. Frank Baum was a true master of story telling and these tales are just so good that they capture the imaginations of children and adults alike. My real praise goes to Charles Hubbell however. His reading of these stories is remarkable. There are literally countless characters making appearances throughout these tales, yet he manages a different voice for each and every one of them, never forgetting which (witch???) character he is portraying at any particular point in time. He never ceased to amaze me. My compliments Mr. Hubbell!

Worth the credit

I had a hard time with the narration as the narrator made every character sounds like they were from the old west or down south. at first, but as you listen you will see that his narration gets more varied. I did find that some of the voices were not what I expected and didn’t match the characters but it was not a reason to reduce a star.
