About this listen

New adventures lie ahead as Anne Shirley packs her bags and heads for Redmond College. With old friend Prissy Grant waiting in the bustling city of Kingsport and frivolous new pal Philippa Gordon at her side, Anne tucks her memories of rural Avonlea away and discovers life on her own terms, filled with surprises...including a marriage proposal from the worst fellow imaginable, the sale of her very first story, and a tragedy that teaches her a painful lesson. But tears turn to laughter when Anne and her friends move into an old cottage and an ornery black cat steals her heart. Little does Anne know that handsome Gilbert Blythe wants to win her heart, too. Suddenly Anne must decide if she's ready for love.

I love the entire series of Anne of Green Gables and while the narrator was only okay, it was still well worth it to listen!

Beautiful story, only ok narration

This series is so enjoyable. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series. I can't wait to share these with my children when they are old enough to enjoy these books. I liked the narrator as well. I can't give enough praise to the works of L.M. Montgomery! I am reminded why I loved her books so much growing up. They are so wonderful and the characters are so endearing. I will be sure to reread and listen to them again in the future!

Delightful and fun listen

Wonderful reader except when reading for young women. It was difficult to get past. next time I read this series, I hope that these are all redone by a new person or group of people. Or just record the parts of Anne and her girl friends with an appripriate reader. I love Anne so much that I will read or listen every few years regardless of the genre.

As if Marilla was the narrator and voicing Anne

I love this story. this is one of my all time favorites. No profanity or lurid sex scenes. I love that it is clean and wholesome with good morals throughout. I can't think of anything bad in it.
I don't want to be to hard on the reader. She did a good job and she used voice change for the characters. It just seemed her voice would be Better used for old people. Marilla was perfect for her, but she was not at her best portraying young girls, especially Anne. But. I would listen again. I love this story!

Would you try another book from L.M. Montgomery and/or Tara Ward?

I loved Rachel McAdams narration in Anne of Green Gables and am very sorry she didn't narrate the second and third books as well. Tara Ward does a really bad job, particularly when she tries to affect a different voice for each character. All the girls sound like the're 60 years old even thought they're supposed to be 17. And even though this is Prince Edward Island, she makes Gilbert sound like some hick from Alabama. And he also sounds 70 years old and nothing like a college student. Davey is also ridiculous. The narration really ruins an otherwise good book.

TERRIBLE narration
