About this listen

"She's just watching, thinking about it again, when a big flash car pulls up outside. No one gets out. Then the doors of the bar open and people appear. Two men and a youngish woman, and one of the men has a hold on the woman's arm. It looks as if they're having words. Then this all happens quickly—they push the woman towards the car, one of the back doors opens, and they manhandle her inside. Sarah hears a muffled shout from the woman and the car pulls away. It's all over in a few seconds." Just a few seconds—but seconds which will set in motion a sequence of events involving every member of the Kings Lake Central murder squad in the days to follow. This time the threat is to one of their own.

I Buy Everything Peter Grainger Writes!

A little bit different, but still nail-bitingly good! It was nice to have to focus on Serena Butler for this story.

Yet Another Winner

As every other book in this series, this story held my interest and combined both drama mixed with some subtle humor. As a resident of the United States, I thoroughly enjoy learning about the British legal system, and have such a respect and fondness for all the characters in Kings Lake. My favorite parts are always the ones that include the quotes from the amazing DC Smith. Chris Walters has come such a long way and I cannot wait to continue to follow his progress, both in his professional life and the personal life with his fiancé. The narration is just simply perfect. Highly recommend this entire series

Never a Doubt with this author

Grainier always delivers a high quality story. This series is no exception. The skilled reader is a perfect match too.

Great series!

Love this series and characters. Narrator does a fantastic job with dry humor conveyed in text

Suspensful, action packed story!

I liked the way the author had three story lines going and tied them all together in the end. Overall, he is gifted in character development! Can’t wait for the next book—this is a great series.

Love this whole series

I loved the story, however I felt it ended a little abruptly. I’m hoping that means another book will come out. I like the way the series is narrated too. It’s different.

Hooked on this Series 5

Like all of the DC and Kings Lake books, this one keeps you glued to every moment. It's one of the things I find uncanny about the Grainger-Jackson team. We don't get to hear much about the personal lives of the main characters this time, which I found a bit odd. I trust we'll get caught up on those aspects in Book 6, which I hope will be out soon!

The relationships between the detectives.

The way old stories, old cases, keep being referred to. The case is standalone as does each book. Referring back seems to be just for continuity, which I feel is unnecessary.

Another winner by Peter Grainger.

There was no way i could avoid becoming as deeply involved in this one as I did with any other of Grainger's books. This story is so very in tune with current social and economic issues, locally and globally. Mr. Jackson did his usual extraordinary narration.
