About this listen

Ten extraordinary women. A year-long assignment to Antarctica.

Meteorologist Jo Peterson enjoys her life as a loner hopscotching her way around the world chasing extreme weather events. When her best friend and mission leader, Ty Blackwell, asks her to join a mission to Antarctica, she balks. Staying in one place isn’t her thing, but how can she turn down the one person who’s stood by her or a golden trip to winter over at the South Pole?

The situation quickly spirals out of control as the team grapples with sabotage, internal conflicts, and a maze of misunderstandings. It doesn’t help when the mission doctor with a mysterious past pulls on feelings Jo has spent a lifetime avoiding.

In this unforgiving landscape, these women must navigate not only the physical dangers—but all the complexities of their intertwined lives.

Wow!

This is an amazing adventure by ten women who sign on the form a team that will attempt to concure the isolation of Antarctica by spending the winter in a self-sustaining habitat. Over the months of untold hardships, they form a team that will successfully complete the mission. Woven throughout the story is a very slow-burn romance that must remain on the back burner.

Loved this book!!!

I’m so glad I took a chance on this thrilling novel! Set on an all-female science expedition in Antarctica, the story is packed with suspense, political intrigue, and sapphic drama. From the extreme temperature setting to the intense character dynamics, I couldn’t put this book down.

Jo, the lead character, is compelling and relatable, and her journey through the unfolding mystery kept me hooked. The plot twists and tension between the characters made for an exciting and unpredictable read.

The combination of mystery, hint of romance, and political intrigue felt fresh and unique, a true standout in the genre. I really hope the author writes a sequel! There could be so much more to explore, and I’d love to see what’s next for Jo. If you’re looking for a gripping, entertaining read, this book delivers!

I Really Enjoyed This Book!

I finished this book quicker than most books I listen to because I couldn't stop listening! There was a great mix of compelling characters and I enjoyed the storyline. Also, I like listening to books narrated by Angela Dawe and she did a great job with this one. Next please!

Nice change of pace

Good story. No spice. MC and supporting characters are intelligent and self sufficient. Seemed well researched. Was nice to get an adventure with lesbian characters where romance wasn’t the point.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed not being bogged down with science themes or too many sex scenes. wouldn't be a book review if I didn't complain about wanting an update on Ty. Angela was as awesome as ever very nice listen.

Narration made it worthwhile

Not overburdened with salacious sex, which is welcome. But really, it would be hard to recommend. A confusing huge number of characters, and an implausible plot. The easy growing of vegetables in Antarctica?? Fresh salads and potatoes every night? Really?? The logistics of a year in Antarctica were something one had to swallow hard to admit or accept. Angela Dawe just speaks so well.

I Wish the Main Character Wasn't So Horny!

The premise is awesome, but the main character is sex-obsessed. Maybe I had the wrong impression, as I thought the story would have a side thread of romantic entanglement, yet, here I am, 9 chapters in, and I can't take it anymore. Every touch is sexual, even a medical examination. I don't care if she is a lesbian, bi, or whatever, what I care about is that everything is framed in sexuality. I was hoping for some good psychological intrigue, but I'm getting softcore porn.
