About this listen

She made a blood vow to save him.
But first, she’ll have to save herself.

Ryder isn’t a stupid woman, and she knows better than to volunteer for things. Volunteering always gets you into trouble. So it’s really no surprise when her undercover operation to retrieve Temple Akenzua from the belly of a Regime prison goes tits-up in fairly short order.

With Ryder stuck on the wrongs side of the bars, the rescue mission has now become a mission of survival. Her only hope - and Temple’s - lies with her comrades in the Shadow Wing. Ryder just needs to stay alive until they come up with a plan.

Of course, that would be quite a bit easier if her former bondmate wasn’t dead-set on seeing her, well…dead. And, as a Regime official, he has the clout to make sure she disappears without a trace.

When all hell breaks loose, the human Ryder was supposed to rescue suddenly becomes her only ally as they fight to protect each other and make it to freedom.

Ryder was supposed to be the one doing the saving in this scenario.
It never occurred to her that she and Temple might be able to save each other.

From USA Today best-selling author R. A. Steffan comes a sizzling sci-fi romance series, perfect for fans of J. R. Ward and Sherrilyn Kenyon.

Strap in tight, because all's fair in Love and War.

Equally as enjoyable as the first in the series.

Antigen was a terrific blend of action, romance and world-building. Although the author states that the book can be read as a standalone, I personally feel that the book is much better as part of an on-going series. The first book, Antidote, introduced the main characters as well as laying the foundation for the co-existence of the Vithii and humans. Without this foundation, following the story in Antigen would be difficult. Also, I highly recommend the first book.

The authors writing is very smooth, and the narrator does a phenomenal job of making each character have a distinctive voice, accent, etc. The sound quality is excellent, and the narrator has a very enjoyable pitch/tone. My only complaint is that she is a little extreme in her portrayal of Ryder (and Skye in the first book) being upset. Otherwise, the narration was perfection.

My favorite part of the books is the scene where Ryder and Temple are trying to make sure that they can give each other pleasure even though they are from different species. Although the discussion could have been a mood killer, I thought that it showed just how much the two characters cared about each other. It was amazing to see Ryder finally feel love and acceptance not only from Temple but from her entire adopted family. Her family/crew had loved her all along, but I teared up a bit when she finally realized the depth of their love.

I received a copy of this book from Audioboom and the author in exchange for this review. However, I bought the first book in the series, and I will definitely be purchasing the third when it becomes available on Audible.

Love this series!!

I normally read or listen to cozy mysteries but read the synopsis for book one and it sounded interesting so I got it and loved it. When I saw the author had a second book in the series I jumped at it and so glad I did. I loved it, the characters are so much fun and I like the interaction between then all. The book has a romantic theme to it so I hope the author has plans for each character to find his or her mate, especially Ash he is so funny.
This book sees Ryder go under cover in a prison to help rescue Temple (Skye - the first books -step brother) but things don't go to plan and it is soon Rider that needs rescuing. What I like is even though it is a romance there is plenty of action to keep the adventure reads happy.
The narrator was EXCELLENT she puts so much emotion into each character but I wouldn't expect anything else. Gwendolyn is one of my favourite narrators and sometimes I buy a book just because she is the reader.

Fantastic!

I loved this second story in the "Love and War" series. The author continues to expand the world and characters introduced in Book 1. The characters are flawed, scarred, and outmanned, but they use their pain, along with cleverness, courage and determination, to fight the corrupt regime. This time Ryder and Temple take center stage as Ryder tries to help locate and rescue Skye's brother from prison. The two end up having to help each other in order to survive and escape, and in the end save each other in a far more vital way. Ryder's history was heart-breaking - I cried at the gravesite scene - and I was so glad she found someone to help her see that she was not a horrible person and that she deserved love. I loved the way Ryder and Temple cared so much about each other. It was fantastic to see the way all of the team members love and would sacrifice for one another, in spite of their sometimes gruff attitudes towards each other. I loved this audiobook and am looking forward to the next one. I hope Ash gets his mate at some point. He really deserves it!

Narrator Gwendolyn Druyor is just WOW! Her delivery packs an emotional wallop, and she never fails to absolutely AMAZE!

Absolutely one of the best of it's genre!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The first book had me pulled me right into this very cool series because it’s better written then the usual alien meets human romance. I learned very little about Temple in book one except that he’s the foster brother of Skye and disappeared after he was the decoy when Skye fled with the antidote. In this book, the group found him in a prison and Ryder volunteered to free him by infiltrating the prison as a doctor.

I’m fascinated with the character of Asher but I’ll have to wait. Book three is about the Cyborg and isn’t out in audio yet (darn).

To sum it up, R. A. Stefan has succeeded AGAIN in giving us something deep enough to want to continue the series and Gwendolyn Druyor is perfect as always.

👍🏻👍🏻 TWO THUMBS UP HIGH!

PRETTY GOOD!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the way the author has the setting in a prison. The narration was great and kept you entertained. This author gives you great character builds. This was my first book by this author but definitely will not be my last. In fact, I'll be reading the first book in this series (Antidote) as soon as possible. Great sound

Once again this narrator did a great job!
I loved all of the action in this book. There is great world building. We learn more about the Vithii anatomy and why the women are ostrisized when their mate dies or kicks them out. We learn about Temple's background with gangs and Ryder's past with her bonded mate.
There is several heart felt moments in this book. I look forward to reading more! I love the characters of Pax and Ashe, they are my favorite. I can't wait to see what surprises they will have in store for the Premiere. I suggest that you start with book one so that you understand what is happening. I completely recommend anyone who loves a true sci-fi romance to give this series a try!

A thrilling read!

She made a blood vow to save him...
But first, she’ll have to save herself...

What a truly enjoyable and remarkable read! Oh man! I so did not want to reach the end of it. Everything was just so perfect - the writing, the characters, the story and the world.

Such a well-written read full of action and romance.

The narrator performed so well - a great job of narrating this book.

Rider & Temple

I enjoyed the 2nd book in the series. Rider was mysterious to me, and I'm glad to see her side and understand where she comes from. I understood that this was about Rider and her growth, but I wish I could've seen more of Temples past. I do like them as a couple though. I feel like the series is losing steam, I'm not for sure if I'll continue the series, but at the same time I'm nosey and I want to know if they end up saving the world.

Fascinating story!

I love a good Sci-Fi story. I have to say Wow! This storyline just keeps getting better and better. I definitely recommend this audiobook! This story has excellent characters and supreme action, adventure, intrigue, suspense and romance.
I narrator does a fantastic job with the characters and voices of each character. Which makes it easy to distinguish between the characters. I say enough about this book and the narrator!
