Publisher's summary

The apocalypse is on the horizon, and only one man can stop it.

Joined by his Apocalypse Knights, Maximo Strident will face dungeons and monsters at levels never before seen. The worst of all, though, are those deranged parodies of Knights-Errant known as Harbingers.

It's a good thing Max can steal spells, because the world depends on him ascending to heights of power once thought impossible.

WOW!

I thought this was gonna be the end of the series because so much stuff gets done but then more come at you.
Really looking forward to book 5.
It feels like anything I say is going to be a spoiler.
So I'll just say, I'm giving this book 7.5 out of 5 stars.

I truly loved this adventure and highly recommend it! I dearly hope the story continues in another volume.

Sad to see it end!

I’ve really enjoyed this kick butt series with a truly intelligent and interesting MC with a ton of just as fascinating supporting cast and enemies!

quick story

I don't mean to be a Debby downer but this book just crashed and burned for me I couldn't even finish the last 45 mins the first couple books were alright because the main character actually struggled now he has almost no struggle with anything then when he should be beating something his equipment doesn't just kill the monsters when it's not even on cooldown. I liked how it went but even if there is another book I couldn't justify buying with how this one just couldn't hold my attention

Bit of a letdown.

Honestly, I only got this book to finish out the series and see how the story ended. The overall story started well, and did so many things right, but went downhill in book three and four.

I understand that bridging the gap in level to reach the endgame is hard to do in the story without it seeming repetitive and drawn out, but this book was not the right answer. A single monster caused a twenty level jump, and that fight as a whole made it closer to thirty. With the massive jumps in level, and the use of new spells they got "dozens of dungeons ago" that we didn't get to see, and the stupid use of spells at times, made this book Mid at its very peak.

They abandoned the interesting mechanics of mixing spells, never used a single passive skill like "Lurker" from book 1, abandoned augmenting his blade work with skills like he did in the first and second book, and refused to make smart obvious choices like using COUNTERSPELL. It was used I believe once in this book. Max watched them summon in monsters with a SPELL, but never tried to counter it?

The story wasn't horrible by any means, but it was rushed and frustrating.
