About this listen

Reborn on Gryndor with the mythical trait [Divine Witness], Ajax swears to live a life of no regrets. This time, he will seize every opportunity, fight every monster, and plunder every treasure as he enjoys life to the fullest.

If only it were that easy. Humans are considered one of the weakest sentient races, confined to their patch of land but that hasn't changed their nature as they fight amongst themselves forced to split their sources of power instead of unite for the greater whole. In order to see the entire vast richness of the world, Ajax must battle for his life and respect, gaining levels and forcing the other races to acknowledge his and humanities worth.

Ajax’s Ascension to the top won’t be quick or easy.

Great story, better to read than audible

Great story, highly suggest. better to read than listen to audible. reason is that about half of every chapter is rereading his stats.... probably a good 25% of the hours in audible are reading stats.

Enjoyable Story over all

Overall, I enjoyed Ajax Ascension. The main character was likable and I enjoyed seeing the point of views of other characters in the story. I also enjoy the slow grind as Ajax's character grows. My favorite part had to be when the shadow cat's name became "Fluffy."

The only minor negatives would be the constant reading of Ajax's ability level and some of the voice actors sounded like they were 10 playing a 28 or 40+ year old.

Hopefully the next book will be out soon!

Love the System

it's a fun story that I have been following through royal road for a few months before it's publishing here, Happy to hear it and remember all the small details I missed the first way through

Thoroughly enjoyed this book

2 minor annoyances 1. Too many stats or maybe too frequent. 2. The voice for lexi is bad and will be painful to listen to in the future books when they interact more. Read this and more on rr hopefully it won’t be too long before book 2 audio is released

It's nice ...but its gimicky

I like the story. In fact I love this kind of story, but there's things in this one that annoy me. This artificial sense of drama built up around keeping ur stats n whatnot private. It's not really that original. A lot of books include some sense of importance around keeping ur info private, but this book focuses on it waaaaaay too much ...n it also doesn't do a great job of making it feel organic with the story. It feels forced the way it's done n it breaks my immersion. It detracts from the story for me. Like, instead of adding depth to the story it feels like an annoying distraction that the author keeps circling back to. Like, geez give it a rest already.
That's my 2 cents. I still like the story, but I just recognize that this aspect of it cud be a lot better.

Good but not great

This book has a lot of potential and I really liked how the writer develops the magic system. The biggest caring problem however is that constant 5 minute Stat updates..... Make them a chapter I can skip and don't include changes into the Stat update.... It's toiling sitting there listening to the narrator read of numbers for minutes at a time.

Fantastic story

I’ve recently gotten into the ‘litrpg’ genre. This was a fantastic read/listen. The number of times stats are read off is not extreme at all (this was mentioned in another review but it really does not happen a lot and it helps to know the stats when they are read).
The story is filled with interesting and reasonable choices that this person, Ajax, makes starting from infancy. It doesn’t drag. The story seems well thought out and it was truly enjoyable!
It appears the story may have about 300 more chapters than is on Audible so far, so I look forward to the next book!

An entertaining start of the series

Keleros has crafted a similar Isekai adventures to others of this genre but makes the MC somewhat mysterious and paranoid in such a way to make him interesting. His main companions are his parents, sibs and his brother's beast-kin main squeeze. Note: I realize that anime fantasies use inter-species beast-kin relationships often but, for me, it comes too close to condoning bestiality. The MC has a unique trait that allows him to easily acquire skills and he keeps this hidden from others in fear of being kidnapped by unscrupulous nobles and an indentured servant.

The pacing of the story is brisk and the battle encounters challenging. With that said, there are two areas where I felt degraded the story.

The first is the tendency of a number of author to lard up a characters skills and then do a periodic lengthy stat dump of the characters stats, skills, achievement, &c. More aggravating, the author does this even when only a few stat items change, which strongly suggests that the author uses this as filler to up his word count. the stat dump became so bloviated that it took over half of a chapter to get past it.

The other area where it was lacking was in the female narrator's choices of differentiating between the several female characters. In some cases, she staggered the cadence so much that it was frustrating to listen to and others where she had the character close to squeaking her sentences.

With that said, I do plan to continue the series for at least one more book in hope that the author decides to improve on the arduous sections.

Solid book but weird narration

The female narrator sounds as like she just learned how to read. Her narration is very stilted. It was grating. The male narrator did a good job and thankfully he does most of the narration.
