About this listen

When a reality show about former child stars overcoming addiction culminates in murder, their therapist must take a closer look into their lives—and her own, from USA Today bestselling author Lucinda Berry.

Dr. Laurel Harlow can’t believe she’s agreed to do a reality TV show. But her years as a chemical dependency counselor and personal history with the show’s director make her the obvious choice. Treating a mansion full of former child stars on the road to recovery is the tallest order of her career—especially when one of them turns up dead while the cameras are still rolling.

In a house full of narcissists vying for the spotlight, everyone’s hiding something…including Laurel. An investigation could expose a past she’d rather keep buried. But among the attention-starved patients, only one of them is a predator. And Laurel is skilled at spotting a predator when she sees one.

As she hunts a killer in her present, the unsettling truths of Laurel’s past are forced into the light. But this time, she’ll face her demons head on. She’ll stop at nothing to expose a murderer, even if it means risking everything she holds dear.

Lucinda is one of my favorite authors, she’s an auto buy for me but this wasn’t one of my favorite books. The ending felt rushed and without closure and I am a reader that really needs a HEA so without that, I’m always disappointed. There wasn’t really any twists, it kind of showed you who the “bad guy” was and that was it. Narrators were great and I liked the story, just not the ending.

I’m not a fan of this book. The premise is a good story but could have been explained so much better. The character that just pops up to explain goings on sealed the three for me. The back and forth between perspectives was more confusing than explaining of the story. If this book was expanded, I think I really would have liked it.

Confusing and not thought out

Captivating story and narration but it NEEDS A TRIGGER WARNING. I had a hard time turning it off.

Not the direction I thought the book would go in but was still a wonderful book.

Not what I expected but still delivered.

The tragedy of 1 in 4 is pervasive thru out the book but there also is so much more to this story. The content is difficult at times, but unfortunately it’s relevant and the author seems accurate and mindful about the topics and her creative storytelling.

I’ve read everything by LB and I think this book has got to take top prize for mind blown and cluster puckery after detonation. Character development is excellent as well as in depth detail and description in each scene. The writing is exemplary. I was hooked and listened all the way through. Bravo!

Narration by all was so good. There is a vast array of emotions from all the cast and the narrators portrayed them so genuinely. I may be haunted forever by one for Laurel!!

OMG What A Story

I LOVED this book just the same as everything else I’ve read by her. So glad I came across this author.

Amazing. Everything she writes. Amazing.

First half was great. Was interesting and kept my attention. Second half not so great. I just wanted it to end. I think this is my least favorite Lucinda Berry.

Kind of Boring

This book was okay, it didn’t end how I thought it was going to end. The book started out good and reels you in and keeps you interested. However, I lost interest towards the end. There was a lot of moving pieces in the book, that didn’t really have anything to do with the book. Like it said it was good, just felt like it lost its way towards the end.

It was okay

In an effort to not give away any spoilers, I'll keep it vague.

It's such a shame that things transpired the way they did for Laurel, and I'm especially disappointed in Noelle. I knew there was going to be an interesting end to the whole ordeal, but I didn't quite see it happening the way that it did. Though anticlimactic, the ending leaves the reader thinking about the overall fallout well after finishing.

This book was sooo worth the read!
