About this listen

Once upon a time there was acharming prince, two wickedly cruel step brothers, and a pair of magical glass slippers. But this isn’t the story you know....

Because in my story, love comes at a price.

And when it comes time for that price to be paid, I find out that the prince, as well as my step brothers, all want a piece.

A piece of me.

The narrator’s voice did not match the sex of the person she was reading as. Her voice would flip from female to male back to female making it confusing to follow the story line.

Inconsistent Narration

I’ve listens to over 100 books here on Audible now and this was by far the worst. This narrator mixed up their male voices and female voices - also changed mid sentence. They shouted during “rasp” moments and whispered during regular speaking moments. They sounded happy during sad parts and vice versa. It was truly weird and very confusing. I had to follow along on my Kindle as much as I could. The computer generated voice that’s on the other 3 retellings Carmen Black has on here was superior to the true human. It seems as though this narrator didn’t truly read the book… I did read the single review on here but gave it a chance anyway. I’m extremely disappointed I used a credit on this. It wasn’t a good experience. I would rather spend my credits that I’ve bought on Whisper-Sync narratives (I believe that’s what it’s called). The book was just ok too. The other 3 are much better in my opinion. I’m actually glad I read this one last. The slow burn was an insanely slow burn… It didn’t pick up until 60%+ into the book. If I read this first I probably wouldn’t have read the others. At least not for a while. I’m so sad about how disappointing this experience was.

Worst narrator I’ve heard so far on Audible
