Publisher's summary

Life is rewarding for Samuel Truelove. He's a gifted surgeon, he's married to the love of his life, and he has a beautiful daughter. But when he's called to perform an emergency surgery, a deadly cascade of events is set in motion, and his picture-perfect life begins to unravel.

Annie Truelove, hoping to escape painful reminders of her grief, leaves her beloved home in the mountains of North Carolina and begins a new life in faraway Seattle. But a disturbing headline takes her back home, where memories of both joy and sorrow come flooding back. What will it take to heal two broken hearts?

Learning to forgive

At first it was hard to distinguish characters with her voice changes but I caught on. the story line was great and gives you something to think about since I have a hard time forgiving others. God teaches us to but I find d it hard.

Parents Worst Nightmare and the Aftermath

This book by Linda Nichols, reveals the raw pain and emotion of a surgeon who makes a mistake that costs the life of a child, rips apart his marriage and makes him question his faith. As with her other books, Linda Nichols does not shy away from the hard questions that Christians face, nor does she portray God as Santa Claus, ready to deliver all of our wishes. Her story is not simplistic, nor do her characters "do the right thing" . . . they usually do the human thing . . . and learn from it . . .and learn then to listen for that still small voice.
