About this listen

Sparks fly: The day that Stephanie and Doyle meet, circumstances fight against romance. She thinks him rude, crude, and bossy, and while he loves her long legs, he thinks she seems snobbish and cold. However, he feels she has interesting possibilities, and she thinks he is a sexy hunk. How important are first impressions?

Danger unites: Rescuing trapped livestock and pets brings them face to face with the arsonist who set the rangeland fire. Surviving the fire together ignites the passions each has been ignoring. Something about near death experiences and passion.... The rugged high desert and mountains of Colorado set the scene for adventure, danger, and fiery passions. Can they stay ahead of the arsonist and develop a solid relationship in the bright light of day?

Trust: Growing trust in the face of adversity, just how strong is this new relationship. Can each of them get beyond past betrayals and pain? Will the final chapter be a wedding, or a fond farewell? Riverview is home to Stephanie and now to Doyle. The small Colorado town and its citizens reflect small ranch towns across the United States and the values and closeness of the residents who support each other when times are tough.

Where There's Smoke, There's Fire

And what a timely topic this is, with climate change producing hotter, drier summers and worsening wildfire seasons! The story starts off simply enough with a scenario readers can all relate to, all the red lights on your dashboard sending your adrenaline level into the stratosphere and your car coasting to the side of the road with billows of steam coming from under the hood. Stephanie is grateful for assistance rendered by...you guessed it...the handsome hunk who comes along and knows his way around an engine. Both Stephanie and Doyle have been burned (pardon the pun) by painful past relationships and neither is looking for romance. But some things are meant to be and it turns out Stephanie's on her way to house sit in her mother's absence and Doyle is the new tenant in the rental cabin on her mother's property. There's just one problem...they hate each other. Well, maybe hate's too strong a word but they sure don't like each other.
When a nearby wildfire grows in ferocity, Stephanie and Doyle set their mutual antipathy aside and join forces to rescue livestock in the face of the rapidly encroaching flames. The situation takes a turn for the worse when they discover the fire was set and the arsonist has them trapped. Suddenly, they're on the same side, dependent on each other for survival. Take it from there...
The narrator is very enthusiastic, reading the story with a great deal of passion. She puts you right there in Riverview, Colorado so be careful if you're listening while driving; you'll get so engrossed you may miss your destination!
