About this listen

New York Times best-selling series • The squad you love is out of time. Prepare for the thrilling finale in the epic, best-selling Aurora Cycle series about a band of unlikely heroes who just might be the galaxy's last hope for survival.

Is this the end?

What happens when you ask a bunch of losers, discipline cases, and misfits to save the galaxy from an ancient evil? The ancient evil wins, of course.

Wait.... Not. So. Fast.

When we last saw Squad 312, they working together seamlessly (aka, freaking out) as an intergalactic battle raged and an ancient superweapon threatened to obliterate Earth. Everything went horribly wrong, naturally.

But as it turns out, not all endings are endings, and the team has one last chance to rewrite theirs. Maybe two. It's complicated.

Cue Zila, Fin, and Scarlett (and Magellan!): making friends, making enemies, and making history? Sure, no problem.

Cue Tyler, Kal, and Auri: uniting with two of the galaxy’s most hated villains? Um, okay. That, too.

Actually saving the galaxy, though? Now that will take a miracle.

It’s like a movie

All the different voices all so well performed.
I cried, laughed. Enjoyed the roller coaster emotional ride.

Sad that the story is over. I will miss these rag tag space heroes.

Dark and suspenseful

In much of this volume I found myself asking, “and what else can go wrong?” Yes, everyone is alive but at what cost and dangling by how fine a thread? Have faith. Believe. Love and family prevail. Lots of good, tight plotting.

Unique and Beautiful

When Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff partner, magic happens. The characters are flawed, impulsive and conflicted - beautifully imperfect. Yet, their idealistic loyalty and integrity is believable and heartwarming. I loved this series.

Fantastic!

Confession: I’ve listened to a gazillion audiobooks and read a ton of ebooks and I have never written a review. Shameful, I know. I can’t let this one go without giving my compliments not only to Amie Kaufman and Jeff Kristoff for their incredible storytelling, but also to the cast of narrators who brought their story to life! A narrator can make or break a story for me and this team of narrators had me digging up more of their work so I could continue listening to their awesome narration. So! Well! Delivered!

There may be a SPOILER HERE: Here’s the thing, I’m a chicken when it comes to books. I don’t like a bad ending so I will admit to skipping to the end to ensure the characters I love make it. Just a quick skim to ensure I won’t be depressed (seriously, I seem to carry sad endings with me for a while). Skipping to the end is not so easy in an audio book. So I stuck it out hoping and praying that Kaufman and Kristoff would not let me down. Without giving specifics away, I can say it was a totally emotional ride, but so worth it!

I loved the world Kaufman and Kristoff built, the characters, their bond, their banter, their heart, commitment, and love. I couldn’t stop listening. I did every monotonous chore I could find these last three days so I could listen to this book.

I will admit I was a little bored in the beginning but about halfway through it started to pick up and I was all in. I listened at 2x speed (as I do with most audiobooks) as I was eager to know how the story would unfold. I will probably go back and listen again at 1.6x (once you listen to audio at a faster speed it’s hard to go back) so I can enjoy the story and narration a bit more.

I really hope these two authors hook up again for another series! The Illuminae Files and The Aurora Cycle were both amazing! Well worth your time! Thank you so much for this awesome story. I’m not sure what to read next. I do believe I have a bit of literary postpartum.

Wasn’t expecting such a good ending!

I do enjoyed this trilogy! We’re parts of it kinda cliché and cheesy? Maybe, lol. But overall I really enjoyed the main themes and messages of the whole trilogy. The author tied up all the plot lines SO beautifully in the end and I even unexpectedly got choked up at one particular resolution! Also, I absolutely LOVED the themes of diversity and inclusion in this trilogy. You’ve got a tough gal, you’ve got a soft, expressive gal, you’ve got so many races and ethnicities, you’ve got nerds and brainiacs, you’ve got buffs, you got a differently abled person, you’ve got guys and gals from privileged and poor backgrounds, you’ve got everyone! That was one of my most favorite things about this trilogy! One last thing, it was such a pleasure to listen to with a full cast of BRILLIANT narrators! Everyone did a SPLENDID job! I’m definitely gonna be listening to this trilogy again and again!

Love, love, love!

Such a good book and series. I love this cast of narrators. Illuminae series is still my favorite by this duo but the Aurora books are a close second.
