About this listen

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

In this moving narrative of resilience and pure love, three mothers share their experiences and learnings about life alongside autism -- From the creators of Finding Cooper's Voice, What Color is Monday?, and Tales of an Educated Debutante

Kate Swenson, Adrian Wood and Carrie Cariello are from different parts of the country and backgrounds, but they were brought together by a singular experience: they are each a mother to a child with autism. Together they have shared laughter, tears, victories and the unconditional love that molds their lives.

Kate, Adrian and Carrie have children with very different autism profiles, and in Autism Out Loud they write about their unique experiences on a variety of topics, from diagnosis to caregiving, schooling and aging. Through their varied stories and lessons they’ve learned, these incredible women provide a glimpse of what to expect on the autism journey and show parents that they are not alone.

Written with honesty and heart, the stories within these pages serve as a reminder that even amid the storms of life, there is always hope and beauty to be found. A tribute to the unparalleled love of mothers, this inspiring book illuminates the joys, challenges and everyday miracles of life on the spectrum.©2025 Kate Swenson, Adrian Wood, Carrie Cariello (P)2025 Harlequin Enterprises, Limited

I loved the entire book. What stood out to me the most was the anxiety chapter.

This is an amazing book for the parents that are starting to walk the autism path.

Excellent listen! Heartfelt!

The authors each read their own words and shared their family’s experience with autism. The book was at times deeply moving, hilarious, and incredibly honest. I really enjoyed it!

Beautifully out spoken!

Thank you, thank you for writing this book! I have cried, laughed, and shed tears as I listened to each of these beautiful accounts! The raw emotion was poignant and relatable! As a mother of a daughter who was diagnosed with Autism last year I have felt so many of these feelings that you have spoken of! I am so grateful for the lessons, the encouragement, and advice given in the book! Though we are just starting on Autism journey I am so grateful for your perspectives and insights! I will listen to this book over and over again for inspiration and perspective!

Absolutely Beautiful

These ladies do a beautiful job of sharing their stories as mother's with children on the autism spectrum. As a fellow autism mama, this book has helped me to feel understood and less alone. I am only on chapter 3 and I have already cried so many times listening to and relating to these stories. Thank you so much to the authors for being vulnerable enough to tell your stories and advocating for acceptance of our extraordinary children.

Listening to the trifecta.

Loved loved loved listening to these ladies and their unique stories. As a subscriber to all three on social media - i was so comfortable watching and listening to them - especially their voices. Even though i have an actual book - i wanted to hear them read it! It was excellent. I smiled, laughed out loud and cried. Beautiful stories from beautiful mommas.
