About this listen

It takes more than silver bullets to kill a werewolf. Sylvester James knows what it is to be haunted. His mother died giving birth to him and his father never let him forget it; until the night he was butchered by a werewolf - the night a full moon ruined his life.

Alone in the world, Sylvester is taken in by Michael Winterfox, a Cheyenne mystic. Winterfox, once a werewolf hunter, trains the boy to be a warrior - teaching him how to block out pain, stalk, fight, and kill. Bit by bit, all that makes Sylvester human is sacrificed to the hunt. Now, Sylvester's hatred has become a monster all its own, robbing him of conscience and conviction as surely as the Beast's bite.

As he follows his vendetta into the outlands of the occult, options become scarce. And he learns it takes more than silver bullets to kill a werewolf... To kill a werewolf, it takes a hunter with a perfect willingness to die.

This book grasped me from the beginning . Great story and believable. I heard some people complaining about racism when regarding the Vietnamese as gooks said it was overdone. I disagree as I've studied the history of Vietnam quite a bit and that's just how soldiers talked back then. Being a former soldier myself I found the language to be spot on and not out of the ordinary . De humanizing and inhumane enemy is common practice even if it is disgusting to the common man. Other than that there were very few racist slurs also considering the time frame of the book 50s 60s. Found it to fit the narrative of how people were back then not that I agree at all with using them towards others . This is a stellar series I really enjoyed it as I said hooked me almost immediately.

Drew me I immediately.

It’s very different, but I think it’s the best werewolf story since “Those Across the River,” and that is saying a lot. Well written and well and performed. I look forward to the sequels.

A Very Solid Story

What did you love best about Autobiography of a Werewolf Hunter?

A pretty good werewolf story. Good enough for me to purchase the sequel. Might have been a bit better if the author cut it a bit short. Was a bit lengthy and dry in parts but overall, I liked it. Glad to have found a new horror author!!

Great Story

This book doesn't hold back at all, pulls no punches! Doesn't worry about being politically correct or too raw. I especially love the prison parts, since I was a correctional officer for almost 20 years. It was very accurate super realistic. I also loved the narration, was perfect. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal stories. I can't wait to listen to it again!

One of my favorite books ever!

Excellent!!

The narrator did the accents very well but there were an amazing number of standard English words that he mispronounced. I found it jarring.

Pronunciation Problems

The character is complex and not the typical hero. He kills innocent people and makes deals with bad people in his pursuit of killing his prey. He is also a tortured soul who lost everyone close to him. The thing I liked about him is that he is painted in shades of grey. Many of the other characters are likewise complex. They are more like real people, rather than caricatures which is refreshing.
