About this listen

Somebody has been abducting children in Fairbanks, Alaska. One of the victims was 14-year-old Curtis Black's best friend, Todd.

Curtis saw it happen. He knows exactly who did it. But he can't prove that it was his neighbor, Gerald Martin. The authorities find no evidence of the crime. There's nothing they can do. So he's going to confront Mr. Martin himself. And this is just the beginning of the terrifying story....

From the author of Pressure and My Pretties comes a nerve-wracking coming-of-age thriller.

Gen X - Stephen King Style Horror

I enjoyed this immensely. You get scares, chills, laughs (if uncomfortable.)

Just a good time w/some unfordable gore.

Autumn Bleeds into Winter

I enjoyed this book. It was tame in comparison to the other Jeff Strand books I have read, but still really well-written and narrated. Jeff Strand always seems to weave great, dark humor into his books.
I don't normally laugh out loud at books, but this one caught me a few times. I think Joe Hemple was the perfect choice for this book. His narration really captured the tone and cadence of the various aspects of the kinda crazy plot-line. I am still struggling with some of the finer points of the story, but overall I thought it was a really good read.

And Their Off!

Like horses coming out the gates, this story bust out and runs fast along the racetrack! The story and narrator are clear and concise. Characters are enjoyable and more importantly believable. Though this story is fast pace it doesn't feel rushed. The end is clean and satisfying. Being vague to a degree for I don't want to spoil a single word. Thank you Mr. Strand it's been a while since I've read a book that wasn't King that made me have interest in characters!

Great suspense thriller!💜

This was a fantastic story. Psychological thriller that set me on edge. Nervous for what was yet to come. I found myself wondering exactly what would I do if that happened to me. I don’t think I’d find myself in the same predicaments as Curtis simply because I’m neither that brave or that stupid. That said his choices made for a riveting thriller that had me on edge until the very end.
The narration was absolutely perfect. Joe Hempel performed these characters in such a believable way that made me feel like I was there. (Thank God I was not lol)
This book has an HEA and is a complete standalone.
I highly recommend this book.

First book by this author definitely not the last!

I loved everything about this story from the first sentence. I had to make myself slow down reading because I kept wanting to jump ahead to see what was going to happen next! An excellent book, perfectly plotted, perfectly paced. Definitely worth the credit.

This one Packs a Punch!

Wow this is quite the story! It sure packs a punch! It has so much more than I bargained for. This kid! Boy is he a spitfire! More times than I could say…he shocked me with his antics. I enjoyed his strength and determination and not just in searching for the abductor..in his life as well. This really shows the frustration a child has when he is up against adults.

This is a thrilling suspenseful story! This author is a first for me. The writing and story telling is smooth and easy to follow along. I was able to connect with the characters feel Curtis’ irritation, frustration and dismay. I did listen to this on audio. The narration is well done.

I highly recommend if you love suspense, thrillers or a mystery.

good listen

It took me sometime to get into the story, and at times I thought of putting it aside, but this gripping story, with the feeling of a true story, told by the hero, kept me going.
The narrator did a good job with bringing the story to life.

A Great Coming of Age Story

When your book begins with a 14 year old trying to buy a gun to go after his best friend’s killer, you know you are in for a fun ride. Well, as long as Jeff Strand is writing it. With perfect narration by Joe Hempel, a perennial favorite of mine, this coming of age story set in Alaska sees protagonist Curtis Black develop an unusual relationship with his enemy. And despite the many perils involved in avenging his friend’s death, including his life crumbling around him, Curtis displays a tenacity he’s going to need if he intends to stay alive.

This will be my 7th, 8th, maybe 9th book by Strand, I’m not sure, I may even be in double digits. Regardless, he has yet to disappoint, and Autumn Bleeds into Winter is certainly one of his best.
