Publisher's summary
You just never know what might happen.
Who would have thought a year ago, there would be a war in Ukraine that affects the globe, or that with inflation skyrocketing, a possible recession is just around the bend? And let’s not forget what happened from 2019 to 2021…the “C-word”. That’s right, COVID.
In these uncertain times, it's important to be prepared for anything. That's why you need a backyard barnyard–so you can raise your own goats, chickens, rabbits, and more. With food prices rising, and the global economy on shaky ground, it's more important than ever to become self-reliant, and with a backyard barnyard, you can do just that.
If you're looking for a more sustainable way of life, look no further than raising goats, chickens, rabbits, and more in your backyard barnyard. With our help, you can learn the joys of self-reliance, and have fresh eggs and meat all year round.
Inside this audiobook, you will find answers to common questions related to raising your own animals. Questions such as:
- Can Billy goats really eat anything?
- What animals best fit into my living arrangement?
- How often do quail provide eggs?
- How crucial are bees to man’s survival?
- What is too much when it comes to harvesting honey?
- What is the best time to shear a sheep?
- Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I’ll let you decide on that one!
In the near future, we may all be on our own, with no government help or handouts. So, it's best to be prepared now and have a food security plan in place. Not to mention, a backyard barnyard is recession-resistant–because you're not relying on anyone else for your food. And it's sustainable too–so you can feel good knowing that you're not damaging the environment in the process.
Make your own way in the world and thrive with a backyard barnyard. The future is uncertain, so be prepared for any storm or crisis by raising produce that will help feed you during hard times-like an insurance plan! By learning these skills, it won't take long before this becomes part of who we are as people: self-sufficient individuals looking out after themselves and their families first, rather than relying solely upon the charity of others.
What are you waiting for? Raise your own food, provide for your own food security, and thrive in an increasingly difficult era. Get started on your backyard barnyard today!

Story
Drawing on findings from leading health researchers as well as conversations with both chemical and organic farmers from coast to coast, Maria Rodale irrefutably outlines the unacceptably high cost of chemical farming on our health and our environment. She traces the genesis of chemical farming and the rise of the immense companies that profit from it, bringing to light the government's role in allowing such practices to flourish.

Story
Long before the advent of conventional farming methods - which have focused on constant growth, human intervention, and genetic homogeneity - the apple had already grown to become the ubiquitous all-American symbol it is today. Known for their hardiness, ability to adapt to new environments, natural diversity, and plentiful bounty, wildly grown apples were once known as “America’s fruit” throughout the trading world.

One of the great science and health revelations of our time is the danger posed by meat-eating. Every day, it seems, we are warned about the harm producing and consuming meat can do to the environment and our bodies. Many of us have tried to limit how much meat we consume, and many of us have tried to give it up altogether. But it is not easy to resist the smoky, cured, barbecued, and fried delights that tempt us.

Build your own barnyard!
This is such a lovely audiobook! The author has started off with food shortage in Ukraine and Covid that brought so many problems. The best piece of advice is when someone helps you solve your problems and lights up your life with a pool of ideas. The audiobook is great as author has shared strategies to setup our own barnyard and raise different animals with suitable conditions according to your space. I really enjoyed when author said these muller goats eat less, bees are sometimes a danger for humans. How beautiful it is to have your own barnyard where you can have fresh eggs, quail without any worry of food shortage. Loved every piece and advices in the book!

Great information
Animals are so worth owning and caring for, chickens, goats, sheep, quail, rabbits and 2 more. Ive raised multiple animals in different locations throughout my years and taught my kids how to butcher them as well. This book was a good reminder of having a farm.
I like how this book gives lists of different types of chickens & goats & rabbits, roosters too with the whys and hows of raising them and reasons for them, meat, skins or eggs & milk.
I love the chapter that bulks the animals together into the best pairings, similarities, yard areas they can occupy together, and foods that arent good for certain animal pairings and why. Even the monetary needs is there, this has great information. Thank you

Goats,Quail, Ducks, Bees, Sheep, Rabbits, Chickens
Have you ever wanted to be a farmer? Would you like to raise just one or two types of animals as a hobby? Are you looking for ways to become more sustainable and stop depending so much on grocery stores and other people for your food and survival? Do you feel like you don't know how to start working towards these dreams? Buy this book today!
The author explains the benefits of self-sufficiency and provides a ton of valuable information about 7 barnyard animals that can be part of your journey and how you can learn the skills to raise them. He covers goats, chickens, rabbits, bees, sheep, quail, and ducks.
The author goes into great detail about each animal. You will learn how to care for them properly, the benefits of raising them, different breeds to choose from, and fun facts and trivia that will make you even more excited to add one of these animals to your backyard farm as soon as possible! There is even a chapter that details which animals can coexist with each other and the best arrangements for them and for you.
My favorite chapters were the ones on goats, quail and ducks. Now the only problem is to try to decide which of these amazing animals I'd like to get first!

Good for Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians Too
I must admit that I don't eat meat so some of this audiobook doesn't apply to me, but raising chickens, goats, and sheep for their milk is certainly an option for me. And for those that do want the full nine yards, you can learn about that too. I am amazed that sheep don't need an enclosed structure. I was happy to learn that sheep, goats, and chickens co-exist well, because in my perfect world that is what I'd raise. Great info.

One of the greatest freedom is being self-sustaining and producing your own food. However, it takes a lot of work and knowledge to maintain a homestead. This book is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and become more self-sufficient. I enjoyed learning about raising animals in the backyard and is written in an easy-to-follow way.

Starting your own farm!
Finally, a book with the fundamental principles of starting/raising your own farm animals. I've always wanted to start my own small-scale farm but didn't have a background in animal farming. I got this book because I was primarily interested in raising goats, but now that I know the pros and cons of each animal and what goes into taking care of them, I've added chickens and rabbits to the mix.
I thoroughly enjoyed how practical this book is; it provided a brief history of the animals, the different types, the space needed to produce healthy farm animals, how they feed and how to maintain and care for them all.

DIY Green Acres!
If you want to create the things you need to survive independently, this is a must-listen and read. The more self-sufficient you are, the more disaster-proof you will be. The author focuses on being self-sufficient, meaning you can meet your needs, like food, shelter, water, and energy, without over-reliance on outside resources. That means self-sufficiency could be the opposite of our current consumer-driven society—another definition of self-sufficiency is you only use what you have and live within your means. To do so will take a lot of effort and a lifestyle change. This book provides helpful information about common questions related to raising your animals.
