The Taint of Bhaal...

Unfortunately, like the other books in the series, this story suffers from outdated masc/fem tropes that can't be fully redeemed by the generally well-done storytelling. The main characters are one dimensional and hard to get invested in or to see real growth.

As an intended to be amusing side, there's always one thing that stands out in repetition to me in each of the 3 novels in this series so far. In the first one, it was the author describing how awful everything smelled, in the second, Jaheira's (much potential here wasted) primary action was to scream, and in this last one it was the use of "taint of Bhaal" to what felt like excess.

The voice acting, reader’s voice.

I loved all three in the series, the books are just as good as the games!

A grand conclusion to the Bhaalspawn story

It checks all the boxes, except for maybe setting the scenery well. Definitely better character work than the previous books, nobody feels out of place. Villains are compelling when they have the spotlight.

More detailed than the first two

Drew Karpyshyn wrote my favorite Star Wars trilogy of novels (Darth Bane is such a badass!). I'm probably a little biased to like this more because of that. I really enjoyed how much more fleshed out the descriptions were. It helped paint the picture of the world in my mind all more vividly. I really enjoyed all three parts of this trilogy, but this one was the strongest of the three for me.
