Great Coming of Age Tale

This is the story of Tarek, an elf raised by a group of monks in a world where magic is prized. The only problem is that Tarek has no magical ability. This causes him to be despised and ridiculed by others, but it may be just what they need. I’ll end it there so I don’t spoil anything for you.
The story seems to be written for younger readers, but it was still entertaining. The world building was fantastic and the characters were well developed. The narrator did a terrific job, also. My only regret is that it ends on a major cliffhanger, making me want to buy the next part of the series.

For complete disclosure , I did receive a free preview copy, however, I would recommend this to others who like coming of age/epic fantasy tales.

Adventure Tale

This is a coming-of-age story about an elf known as Tarek. When Tarek was a baby he was brought to the Black Keep where he was raised by a group of monks. The group of monks prized the children who had natural magic. Unfortunately when Tarek is tested they find that he has no magic. Thus begins his story. I enjoyed this story and the twists and turns in Tarek's life; however, it did seem to be written for a younger reader and the omnibus ends on a cliffhanger. Chris Mayers' narration was good and his voice clear. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

Dont get this book

I dont want to be mean as I myself am an aspiring author but this book just doesn't have what it takes to hook a reader. The narrator did his best but the writing lacked power. There was little description for most scenes and almost done that involved anything beyond sight and sound. The dialogue was dry and I found myself wanting to smack the protagonist more often than not. I couldn't even finish the second book it was so hard to listen to. This book has potential but the execution isnt what the story needed. I feel the author should scrap the series and start over with a new eye for what needs to be done.
