About this listen

The most valuable lesson Emerson Moore ever learned was from her parents: Never get too attached to someone else. That's why this hard-partying college student plays by her own code of bedroom conduct, refusing to stay with the same guy for too long. She gets all the pleasure of having a good time without the messiness of a relationship. So what if frat-house hopping has earned her a certain reputation around campus? At least no one gets hurt this way - especially her.

When ridiculously gorgeous Jaxon Riley moves in next door, Emerson's not sure how long her vow against emotional intimacy can last. Jaxon's tattoo, muscles, and sexy voice make him tempting, but he also seems to really understand her...until his jealous ex-girlfriend and Emerson's life-changing discovery about her parents get thrown into the mix. After everything she's been through, can Emerson handle a real relationship? Or will breaking her rules just lead to a broken heart?

Angst, sweetness, and forgiveness

I really enjoyed this story. My only complaint is the narrator's Texan accent was way off. She sounded more like she was from South Carolina than anything. Texans have a distinct drawl that is very distinguishable. Other than that, I found myself drawn into Jackson and Emerson's world, experiencing the angst, the hurt, the sweetness and everything in between. I'm off to start Book 2 in this series. I'm curious to know Jace's story.

Narrators voice was very off putting

But you kinda get used to it after a while lol. The guys voices she did were horrible but her girl voice was perfectly fine. Just needs some more vocal lessons maybe.
But back to the story. Was a very sweet slow simmering romance. Made me laugh made me cry! Loved the book immensely. Recommend the authors book to everyone.

One of my top 10

Where does Beautiful Broken Rules rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's in my top 5 for sure. the narrator is perfect and doesn't try to hard to switch between the voices where i'ts annoying.

What did you like best about this story?

It's really Emerson. The growth that she goes through as a person where she finds her strength, her voice and her courage is awe inspiring.

Which scene was your favorite?

It's the very end during the epilogue. The story comes full circle in the most heart breaking way. It's from the point of Jaxon more than Emerson, which I think is what makes it so poignant. You seem him come into his own as a character that is truly deserving of Emerson. You can see the life he imagines with her unfold in every moment of his sililoquy. It's the one of the best parts of the book. PS - DO NOT skip ahead to read it. Although it's the best, it's worth the wait to get there.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Oh yeah! There are several points where you will laugh and cry. The tearful moments are the life changing moments for each character. The most heart wrenching is about halfway through where you just can't help but feel the anguish.

Any additional comments?

This book began my obsession with this series. You definitely need to start with this book in order for the following ones to really fall in line. Each one is unique and definitely worth the read. This one will be your favorite though. I loved it enough to purchase the Kindle version too.

great read

This was a great book. various characters had conflicts vs 1 or 2 ppl, so it made the story more dynamic. The history with Em and her parents was sad, but the hurdles she had to overcome made the story better as well. Jack's role was interesting since he provided both support and motivation. I'd love to read more about the whole gang.

Narratior

It was hard to listen to. The voice was extremely annoying. The book was great if you could get beyond the voice.
