About this listen

A tale as old as time...with a twist!

Rose had it all until melanoma left her scarred at the ripe age of 18. Now, she’s Sterling's most infamous recluse, and no one knows why except for her family.

Adam spends his summers working at the local tourist trap to help his mom make ends meet. So when his neighbor offers to pay him enough to cover rent for a month if he breaks into Rose Beaumont's house, he jumps at the opportunity.

This chance encounter between two teens from opposite sides of the beach soon transforms into something more. But just when things start heating up, secrets that can destroy everything threaten to surface.

Beauty and the Beach is a genderbent retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It is a novella in the Boys of Summer series, a collaboration between several YA authors. They are all stand-alone stories that take place in the same fictional town. Escape to Sterling Beach today!

Wonderful YA book

This is a sweet and innocent book about a girl who finds herself in a situation that makes her become a recluse and a boy she knows from school who eventually helps her back out into the world. It was some angst but shows how it pays to be honest and forthright with others.

The narration was good, there was some background noise that was distracting a few times but Megan is a new narrator for me and I will definitely listen to her again.

Definitely a great book for anyone who likes YA coming to age books.

Beautiful YA Romance

I cannot say enough good words about Kayla Tirrell and her ability to write young adult romance novels. While the plot points of the story are based on Beauty and the Beast, Tirrell takes those and turns them into a story all her own. I knew after the first chapter what was going to happen, but with Tirrell's writing style, I was sucked into the story and I wanted to sit back and listen with enjoyment to how things unfolded. It is a sweet tale of girl who was popular in high school, but had to have surgery due to cancer, changing her looks forever. But the boy from the other side of town who didn't run in her circle sees the new person she has become after the surgery and sees all of her beauty. It is a wonderful story of not just looking at people on the surface, but looking at the beauty they have within. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet summer romance.

Completely sweet!!

What a fantastic story! Adam is not the typical surfer recent high school graduate. It's just him and his mom and he takes being the man of the house very seriously. He works to help his mom pay the bills and money is tight. so tight that he accepts an immoral job from a jealous neighbor. Here's where he meets the popular girl, the queen of the school, Rose.

Rose shows us how heavily our society leans on beauty. What it does to impressionable young ladies that are struggling with their own body image. Beauty and the Beach gives us a great lesson to take to heart. It also reminds us to look past the visual and to feel with your heart.

The narrator did a good job. Megan Meyer handled a dual POV story greatly. Personally I prefer a male and female narrating a dual book but this wasn't the case here. However, Miss Meyer didn't try to give us a Male's voice. She slightly changed her voices to show differences between the two. I much prefer how she did the narration than a narrator trying, badly, to give us a male and female voice. So this is a super quick listen, just at 2 hours. I was really impressed with how well built and complete the story was. Kayla Tirrell did a fabulous job giving is enough information and background on the characters to care for them. This is a nice wholesome read, light romance. It'd be a perfect by the pool or beach listen as it's light and sweet. It'll make your heart feel happy.

sweet short story

Rose is a popular, snobby , high school grad. She has a secret that keeps her a recluse from friends. Giselle is totally jealous of Rose because of her popularity . Adam is working to help his mom pay bills since his father passed away the previous year. Giselle offered to pay Adam money to find out any dirt on Rose.
He reluctantly agrees. Does Adam go thru Giselles plan to help out his mom? Does he really want to do this after he gets to know Rose? This is a story of self discovery, overcoming obstacles in life, trust, forgiveness and friendship.. Megan Meyer narration of this story is excellent! sweet story of friendship

This is a cute, quick story. A reverse of Beauty and the Beast...this time the girl is the scarred one and the boy is a hardworking, caring soul. Their meeting was unconventional but loved how they connected. It is a novella so a quick read-listen.

Beauty and the Beach

A short sweet tale in the vein of Beauty and the Beast. Kayla Tirrell did a great job of portraying how these teens handled the situations that they were faced with.

Megan Meyer’s narration was well done. She brought the characters to life and gave the story a very real feeling.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Excellent story

The story was short but I really enjoyed it. So much truth to the story. I really wanted to cry for her and was so pleased with the way Adam handle everything after he got himself together. Narrator did both character justice.

Getting a second chance

This is a story about a young woman named Rose who is given a second chance to change. Rose was the popular girl and some would say mean girl at school but a diagnosis changes her life and opens her up to change. Adam is a young man that is just trying to help his mother make the rent each months. When he is offered and opportunity to do something for money it brings him into contact with Rose and they explore possibilities. Ahh young love at its finest.
