About this listen

Despite being a rising star in the BAU unit, FBI Special Agent Hailey Rock still lives in the shadow of her older sister, who remained in their small Midwestern town to become a police sheriff and who remains the favorite in their parents’ eyes. Hailey has not thought of her estranged family in ages, but when young women turn up dead in her hometown, the FBI dispatches Hailey to solve the case her sister cannot—and forces her to face demons, including that of her kidnapped sister, that Hailey wished she would never face again.

Behind You is book one in a long-anticipated new series by number one best seller Rylie Dark, whose best seller See Her Run (a free download) has received more than 700 five-star ratings and reviews.

Women are turning up dead, posed in local farm fields like scarecrows, and time is running out. A serial killer lurks, and their small town never felt so small.

Hailey must reconcile her contentious relationship with her sister to crack the case—but she refuses to make it easy. Can they put aside their differences and work together?

Or will old demons bring them all down?

A cat-and-mouse thriller with harrowing twists and turns and filled with heart-pounding suspense, the Hailey Rock mystery series offers a fresh twist on the genre as it introduces two brilliant protagonists who will make you fall in love and keep you listening late into the night.

Books two through five in the series—Beside You, After You, Watching You, and Judging You—are now also available.

Good quick read

I could understand the previous review about the sisters' bickering, but it is the purpose of the story. if this was a movie, it would act out the same. it was a little annoying but understandable. I think the fact they were so quick to arrest people made it confusing. overall, it was a good quick read like watching an episode of criminal minds.

Pronunciation

Susan Marlowe mispronounces contractions and other common words throughout the narration. “Mountain” is “mou-in”; “didn’t” is “di-un”; “wouldn’t” is “wu-un”. The NT is not pronounced. Sometimes she says “di-nunt” or “wou-nunt”, but still no T pronounced. It gets quite annoying to hear this from a professional narrator.

Don't waste your time or money

is the author 10 years old? This has to be one of the most awful books I've ever tried to listen to. How did it get published? The constant bickering between the sisters was just plain stupid. I couldn't finish listening to this book. The narrator was rather hard to listen to, also. She sounded smug all the time, even when it wasn't called for.
