About this listen

The rolling blackouts were coming all too frequently.
With darkness, the attempts to penetrate the gates increased.
Their food and water supplies were dwindling.
Some elected to leave the walls that protected them.

Only a few were able to return.

International bestselling author, Bobby Akart, one of America’s favorite storytellers, delivers up-all-night thrillers to nearly two million listeners in 245 countries and territories worldwide.

“Akart is one of those very rare authors who makes things so visceral, so real, that you experience what he writes.”

America’s government was on the verge of collapse, and her geopolitical foes smelled blood. While the country was destroyed from within, China deals a final blow. It was time to bring the United States to its knees.

Thrust into a world without power, complete lawlessness took over. There was no organized police force. The National Guardsmen had abandoned their posts to protect their own. Anarchy filled the void.

“You are there. Feeling what they feel. Anger, joy, love, mourning. You feel it all. Not everyone can write a book like this. It takes a special writer to make you feel a book.”

An uneasy alliance within the community had finally been endorsed by all. But would it be adhered to? Was it nothing more than a ruse to convince those who were prepared to feed and protect those who were not? Four families remained skeptical and tried to maintain their distance from the neighborhood politics. Until a seminal event threatened to expose their anonymity.

"Akart's fiction becomes reality far too often. Behind the Gates is a cautionary tale of what's to come in our nation."

With seventy novels published worldwide, Bobby Akart delivers intense, up-all-night thrillers that have you whispering just one more chapter.

I enjoy your books, I thought this one was a little slow with the trek home. Your other books are awesome, this one wasn't bad just felt it was slow, could of passed on the whole thing about the dog peeing on him. Again I enjoy your books looking forward to the next book on the series.

another good one

Book 3: The story continues in book 3. Things continue to worsen as a second blackout has happened. Em tries desperately to get her husband out of jail. With the help of Grayson and her neighbors. Toby is ramping up his efforts to take control of the Colony. Everything comes to a head in the books final chapter. I'm looking forward to book 4.

This was a good alternate path for the popular theme of the apocalypse. I found a lot of it believable, but some parts were not. The characters were fleshed out enough to give perspective and depth. The performance was good and added to the story..

Good story, good performance

Although I find it hard to believe Gracen would actively choose to live in California with his skill set and background. I understand the necessary position for the character. I appreciate his leadership role and the change from the norm with his battle rifle choice. Ready for the next one.

Another great book..

Like the characters and the flow of the story. Just wish that this were all together in a box set. I usually purchase longer books and usually don't use 4 credits for a short series, but this series has been worth it. starting the 4th book now.

Interesting and believable

A great series. Definitely plausible, not unrealistic like some post-apocalyptic stories. Good characters and worthy opponents.

The story was still really good but it did drag on a little bit for me. One of the characters plot lines drug on a little too long IMO. But overall I still can't wait to read the next one.

Enjoyed it and will keep reading
