About this listen

From bestselling author Franklin Horton comes this new installment in his Borrowed World–Locker Nine–Mad Mick universe.

Willie grew up outside of Damascus, Virginia, and life was never easy for her. She’s a hard-as-nails single mom who struggles to make ends meet with little support and few opportunities. She’s also the community “rescue mom”, taking in young people with no other place to go. All this while dodging an ex-boyfriend turned stalker who also happens to be a cop.

Willie only made it to adulthood by being resilient. That toughness, combined with a series of odd jobs and side hustles, helps keep her unorthodox family afloat. All those qualities will be tested when a terror attack leaves the nation in an indefinite blackout, and life suddenly becomes even harder. On top of it, the conflict between Willie and her ex-boyfriend is escalating and this time neither of them is willing to back down.

Something borrowed something new

Man oh man. Glad to be back in this borrowed world. Only complaint is I wasn’t paying attention to time and it went by too fast. Loved it. Peace out Garby!

Franklin Horton is a master story teller!

This story was absolutely amazing. Another great addition to the universe he is creating. It only takes a few minutes to feel connected with the characters, and the world they live in. I have been a huge fan of Franklin Hortons work, but this is a whole new league. He has now told the story of this event from 4 entirely different backgrounds and situations. Each addition to this universe gets better. Do yourself a favor and listen to this book as well as the Locker 9 series, the Borrowed World Series and of course the Mad Mick!

A new story from a known world

Franklin Horton keeps building his universe. The universe of “The Borrowed World”. He ties in a new hero of the apocalypse with this tougher than nails warrior woman “The Hillbilly Xena”. He takes you through this redneck journey through the eyes of Willie, A woman that has fought for everything she has her whole life and now gets to show her town that only the smart and strong will survive this new and dangerous world.

Great story line

Enjoy Franklin books, this is no exception. I was a little worried when I didn't see Kevin as narrator, but she did an awesome performance, perfect fit.

give us back the og narrator!!!!

Decent story, good addition to the world, the author has established. Dear god please change the hey raider, when she voices, the teenagers, she sounds so whiny and its sooooo annoying and she has the weirdest most ANNOYING inflection in her voice and hearing her try to do a white trash Southern voice is like fingers and a chalkboard, it's like pouring grease down a drain. it's just BAD. get the old voice actor that did ALL the rest of the seroes he even narrated the locker nine series and that was spectacular! yeah, I just had a hard time getting into it completely because of the voice actor...

Defeated Creek review

Another great book by Franklin Horton. I have enjoyed many of the other series he’s written. While Kevin Pierce does an excellent job narrating Franklin’s books. I enjoyed Shannon McManus as the narrator for this book. I think she was a great choice. I hope she will be the narrator as the series continues.
