About this listen

Justin and Toni were friends.

Besties, with a whole list of life rules developed over a friendship that started when they were kids. As long as they stuck to the rules, even when they blended a business relationship into the friendship, things went off without a hitch.

But then one of them broke the rules - it was Justin. Justin broke the rules - and Toni has been mad about it ever since.

She's spent the last several years traveling the globe to cultivate her business, but now she's back in town. Her only goals? Help her parents with "Mr. Bestseller's" signing at the store, help them pack up their house to sell, and get out of town without too much interaction with her former best friend.

Mr. Bestseller has different goals.

He broke the rules - no getting around that, and he's not trying to. His main goal now that Toni is finally home is to get her to hear him out...and get his friend back.

Neither of them anticipated that the rift in their relationship would be the catalyst for seeing each other in a whole different light. But now that they do, they're wondering if it may be time to make some amendments to those rules.

Or at the very least...bend a few.

Contains mature themes.

Good ending to the series

When there is a big build up to the reveal of the wrongdoing, it can be hit or miss. This was a home run. Such a good read.

Stubborn, but Sweet!

The Wright brothers are like Sour Patch candies - salty, then sweet! Honestly, Toni was tap-dancing on my damn nerves with her indecision and stubbornness through this book. I understand the instinct to protect herself from being hurt again, but DAMN, sis. SAY WHAT YOU FEEL and stop waiting for people to read your mind! Also, quit having both sides of the conversation without getting the other person’s perspective and making all these assumptions! I felt exasperated by this character. Overall, though, I enjoyed the cast of characters and laughed aloud several times at the exchanges between the Wright brothers and their father!

Beautiful roller Voss

A beautiful ending to a wonderful friend and family group. It took him long enough to work out his feelings lol. The ending was beautiful!!!

The best for last

This was the best story out of the series in my opinion. I didn't particularly care for the enemy's to lovers storyline in the previous books. However, with this story , the mending of a broken friendship was a much more realistic story line in my opinion.

This was a pleasant surprise!!

If you’re still on the fence about this book, let me convince you to give it a go. It’s about Toni and Justin, and I absolutely loved it. The story feels surprisingly realistic, even though the FMC does a few eye-roll-worthy things towards the end—nothing nearly as extreme as some of the other books I’ve been reading lately, though, so it’s still totally enjoyable.

Toni’s a small publisher, and Justin’s an author. They’ve been friends since they were kids, but life happened, and they did not speak for seven years. When they reconnect, there’s a lot more than just rekindling a friendship at stake, it’s a bit of a balancing act with their relationship too. And Justin, by the way, is a single dad (I know, I know, I’m usually not a fan of the single parent trope either but trust me, this one’s done beautifully. The other parent isn’t absent or villainized or dead and that made all the difference.)

What really stood out for me was how the side characters brought so much fun and humor to the story. Every little detail came together to create a really sexy, entertaining read. Don’t skip this one—I’m telling you, it’s totally worth it!

PS
It’s not super spicy but still an enjoyable read

Hrmm...:-(

I’ll be honest: this was the most difficult CCJ book for me to get into. I LOVE her stories usually, and this one wasn’t horrible...however, these characters were getting on me damn nerves! Toni was being so annoying, and the set up for them finally getting together took way more time than I had the patience for. Add to that not really feeling the narration AT ALL (Adenrele is perfect for Alex House’s books, but way too dramatic for these series!), and I’ll say this ended up being the worst out of the series for me, maybe even the worst of hers I’ve read, which still isn’t horrible (again) since at some point I’ll probably re-read it. Just saying.

I’m so irritated

Like why Justin play in her face like that???? He was on straight BS for too long and I would’ve been walked away and not looked back. The drama dragged on for too long and became very frustrating! I enjoyed the book; glad I listened to it and I guess the author had to do what she did with this story to fill the pages, but it was still just so frustrating and nerve wrecking!
