Publisher's summary

In this novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Detective Eve Dallas' investigation of a homicide at her husband’s hotel leads to a murderer with a passion for the finer things in life - and in death...

At the luxurious Roarke Palace Hotel, a maid walks into suite 4602 for the nightly turndown - and steps into her worst nightmare. A killer leaves her dead, strangled by a thin silver wire. He’s Sly Yost, a virtuoso of music and murder. A hit man for the elite. Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows him well. But in this twisted case, knowing the killer doesn’t help solve the crime. Because there’s someone else involved. Someone with a more personal motive. And Eve must face a terrifying possibility - that the real target may, in fact, be her husband Roarke…

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Good overall story

As usual I enjoy the overall story that Nora Roberts or in this case her synonym J. D. Robb writes. However, it alway loses points with me because it's laced with so much sex and sexual innuendo. She has such wonderful story's I wish she would take a lesson from Clive Clussler and realize that her storytelling would actually be stronger without all the intimate details that I must fast forward through. I know her work is known for it but it would be so much better with out it. Otherwise the story is great and I enjoyed the suspense and excitement through out. I just wish there was a PG rated version of her books.

I love this series!

These books are wonderful. They make me laugh and sometimes cry . I'm always guessing who done it and the cast of characters are awesome! I love Eve and Roarke and their relationship. I highly recommend this series and now I'm on to the next book and more Eve!

Great Story By a Great Narrator

What did you love best about Betrayal in Death?

It's hard to pinpoint one best thing, but I like learning more about Roarke's past.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Again, hard to pick just one. All the characters mesh with each other and play off each other so well. Roarke is awesome, but what is he without Eve? Peabody and McNabb. Feeney! Summerset! Mavis! Trina!

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

She manages to articulate the characters so well that I know who is speaking even without dialogue tags. Even the two male Irish voices are distinct. Excellent job.

The “In Death” books are great.

Love Eve and Roarke. Love how he helps Eve solve the murders. Can't wait to see what they do in the next one.

One of my favorites!

One of the best in the series so far. I don’t often shed a tear with Roarke & Eve, but I did in this one. Great plot and I really enjoyed the action and the way the story played out. Well done!

Always fresh.

I am enjoying listening to the 'In Death' series after having read the series (some books several times) over the years. "Betrayal in Death" is one of my favorites. It still gets me tense and anxious, then laughing out loud as Eve, Roarke and crew share jabs and dark humor. So glad Ms. Robb lightens the really tough scenes every once in a while with the humor. The characters continue to develop and evolve and their relationships deepen, particularly Eve's and Roarke's (and heaven help them, Eve's and Somerset's). As I have come to expect, Ms. Robb's plots are complicated and make me work to follow along. I like a story that keeps me hopping.

Betrayal in Death

This series is just terrific! Eve, Roarke and all the characters just get better and better as it goes on. The narrator is fantastic in her performance and bringing these characters to life!
