About this listen

Jason King is back in black....

King has returned to Black Force, the special-ops division that shaped him into a one-man army.

No sooner does he arrive than chaos unfolds. Two fellow operatives disappear on a routine surveillance mission in Zamalek, Cairo's most affluent district.

As King battles through Egypt's dark underworld to locate them, he uncovers a revelation much more sinister than he ever expected....

Writer needs to research better

The writer put that Andy’s limousine was a Maybach by Rolls-Royce, but Maybach is made by Mercedes-Benz.
Fun story though!

Interesting twist

Good plot, decently developed characters, fast paced. Interesting plot twist. I would read other books in a series.

A wild and fun ride!

Book 1 of the Jason King series by Matt Rogers was set in Australia, Book 2 in Venezuela, Book 3 in the French island of Corsica, and Book 4 in Egypt. In this novel, Betrayed (set in Egypt), Jason King is back working for Black Force, a secretive small US special operations group. Two other Black Force operators are sent to Egypt for an operation to stop a major terrorist strike; the two operators cannot be contacted and are assumed dead so Jason King is sent to replace them. Like the other novels in the series Betrayed is fast paced, has lots of action, includes intense suspense, and requires a suspension of disbelief as Jason King escapes one deadly situation after another as he ultimately is successful in meeting operational goals. The plots of this series remind me of the Mission Impossible TV programs and movies. Roger Wayne does a great job of narration.

Australian author Matt Rogers published his first book 18 months ago in Kindle ebook format. During those 18 months he has released 11 novels and a short story. Only six or his 11 novels are available in audio format. I decided to wait for all six Jason Kings to be available at Audible to listen to them. I express my thanks again to Audible listener Shelley for her reviews which introduced me to this series. Her reviews have introduced me to many novels/series and authors of the general suspense mystery/thriller genre. If you like the genre, you should follow her reviews.

Fantastic in so many ways

Sure, the Jason King series is filled to overflowing with testosterone,
Epic battles, bad guys, and weapons of all sorts. Yet, we also get a strong dose of brooding introspection, self-awareness and a dash of fashion, cars and relationships when we hear tell of King’s escapades. All of which I love, and will forever be a devotee.

More loving this series: 1. King will forget the last time he ate. 2. A hand grenade will make a cameo. 3. King will do some out and out bragging about his reaction time, his chiseled body, his wealth, his moral compass.

The binge continues! Stoked to hear what happens in the next installment of this super series, which I recommend to anyone who liked the Jack Reacher series written before the first movie was released.

For the Adrenaline Junkie!!

This book really stretches the imagination. While it is certainly fun and exciting and moves at a break neck pace you will have to suspend reality. Jason King, the protagonist takes on a billionaire's security team, captures a lead terrorist, takes on two rogue black ops members and more single handedly. I have no first hand knowledge about black ops or Seals or Delta but this guy might even rival Gentry and for me that's a stretch. However I will say I did enjoy the book and it is addictive. I started listening and didn't stop until the book ended.
Roger Wayne does an excellent job narrating.
RECOMMENDED for something on the lighter side when you really need a rush. I will definitely get the next in this series. These books don't require a lot of thinking , they just grab you and take you along for the ride.

I love Jason King, still..

Another exciting story about Jason King, who was working to stop 300 pounds of simtex going off in and around the pyramids in Egypt and taking care of Nasser, who had set the fuses, and Walcott, a billionaire who was masser's partner, because a billion wasn't enough for him.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 18 times.

As for the narration: As always, Roger Wayne did a great job.

Good Guys vs. Bad Guys

This story is marginally better than Matt Rogers' previous novel. Mass murder can only entertain for so long I guess.

Enjoyed but...

To be fair, I thoroughly enjoy this series and will continue to listen ; however, for someone who is supposedly one of the best operators in the world King sure relies on luck a helluva lot. How come everyone seems to get the drop on him?
