A jock and a geeky girl?
Not happening.
Nick Barrett is a god at my university. And me, little ol' April Hansen? I'm just a nerdy girl, studying and working to take care of my dad.
Nick could have any woman he wanted, but for some reason, he wants me...It's a miracle he even notices me waiting for the bus, let alone offer to drive me home.
Before I can help it, I'm falling for Nick. But there's a reason jocks and geeks don't mix, and I'm about to get my heart broken, I just know it.
Between the Tackles is a standalone, full-length, bad-boy sports romance novel. There is no cliffhanger, no cheating, and a guaranteed happy ending!

A sweet college sports romance

This H/h hit off! Nick came from money but had a down to earth personality. He was looking for a meaningful relationship and found it in April. April, on the other hand, came from a different social class, and was working towards her law degree. I liked they hit it off and didn't have all the normal push/pull in romance stories. When Nick receives pressure about dating April, he doesn't give in.
Holly did an amazing job on the female characters; however, the male characters not so much. She did a great job with all the various emotions, and her performance was animated and lively. Overall, I did enjoyed the performance but the voice for the male characters needs further developing. Holly would be an excellent choice for dual narrated stories.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes and no. I enjoyed the storyline, the narration was ok, but there were some glitches and some repetition in some spots that need to be corrected before I recommendWho was your favorite character and why?
Nick. I loved his steadfast presence and mindset.Have you listened to any of Holly Elise’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. I think holly did fantastic for the female roles, but her male voice was monotone and slow. Rather than a male voice attempt, or tone change, she changed the cadence and rhythm of her speech and it threw things off some.Do you think Between the Tackles needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I really enjoyed the characters but a second book wasn't necessary however it could be done.Any additional comments?
This was a sweet story, and if you manage to stay tuned past the glitches in chat 2, the skip of their meeting, and the monotone moments than it pays off from a story standpoint. I would probably read this story however before buying the audiobook for this one. I received this audiobook from audiobook boom for free for my unbiased review.Tough start but great story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably not, the book was OK but it wasn't really good so it's not something I'd recommend. How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
In parts it seemed like the author was turning a list into a sentence or paragraph. In fact I got this impression a lot. If this has been done better so it's flowed better the book would have been a four star listen. What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The character voices were OK, but not great. There was also some noise from the mic and the mic's cord that wasn't removed from the audio, it's not super obvious but it is recognizable (and a bit annoying) when it's a sound you know.Any additional comments?
The overall story line had potential but was a little lacking. The main characters fall 'into bed' very quickly and not in a believable way. I felt that the characters behavior was a bit inconsistent. The audio's production needs some serious help at the end of the books first chapter (chapter 2 in the audio file), the last few minutes is made up of small bits of audio repeating randomly and it's clear that there is some audio that is missing. This isn't a minor problem, it's pretty bad. Most of the rest of the audio is OK, I only noticed one other duplication in chapter 14 or 15 but this time it was just a few seconds of audio repeating itself.
I haven;t listened to the first two books in the series so I'm not sure how much difference that's made to me enjoying the book.
