About this listen

This hotel has secrets and the best thing about secrets is that they don’t stay hidden.

Beyond the Palms takes you behind closed doors of a serial killer group made up of what should be everyday heroes and individuals with upstanding lives such as doctors, lawyers, police officers, businessmen, and likewise.

Meeting over the dark web, they became close friends over a shared interest of bloodshed. They built the Arbor Hotel and Resort from the ground up to hide their deepest desires and since have held The Black Arbor Convention annually. One week a year, the distant friends meet and purge their instincts to kill before returning to their loved ones and careers. Without a trace to incriminate them, all is well in their world and they plan on keeping it that way.

The Dawson’s are going on a family vacation and find themselves checking in to a room that they will soon regret. John Dawson, a U.S. Navy Veteran, is determined to fix his marriage with his wife Eleanor, an Elementary teacher, and mend his relationship with his children, Jackson and Thea. With Jackson about to graduate High School, and Thea about to graduate college, who knows when they will be able to take another trip like this. However, the family of four start to notice that there may be more to this hotel than meets the eye.

Will they see the signs before it’s too late or will they become the Black Arbor Convention's next victims?

Enthralled, engrossing, horrifying and riveting!

Fabulously written? Check! Interesting, varied, well developed characters? Check! A well thought out, original plot, that leaves the listener with no unanswered questions and no whiplash from incessant head shaking? Absolutely! Adding to the mix were twists, turns, intrigue and action that kept this listener guessing and glued to the edge of her seat! Then there was the dialogue, fabulously written and the narration wow! The narration that breathed life into these characters, this story, was other worldly, almost eerie in places. I listened to the entire audiobook at 1.0 speed, which for me is a rarity. I was transfixed. The subtle nuances of one character in particular, (I can’t give more detail for fear of spoilers, you’ll know when you get there) was completely mind blowing! From start to finish this story was five star fabulous, it had everything I look for in a story and I will definitely be listening to this one again. It was amazing!

Crazy but good

Ok so I really enjoyed this story and couldn't stop listening it was not for the faint hearted and could be gruesome at some parts. I still found myself unable to stop listening wanting to know what happened next and as always Kelley Hustons narration was fabulous she adjusts to any kind of story!

What’s with the ending?

I honestly do not have words for the story. I will say I really enjoyed the narration a lot! The narrator made it easy to tell the the difference between the different characters. I am just confused about the ending. I did not think this book was apart of a series but it ended on a cliffhanger. The book was really twisted but was written well and moved along quickly!

Wow

This is a great book. Wow was all I could say when this book ended. I could see this book as a movie. And getting to see things from everyone's point of view i loved one because I never got lost. I am not a fan of books that do a point of view from more then to people because I get lost a lot but with the way the this book was written I didn't get lots ones.

Good book with twists and turns

This book is addicting. From the first line to the last, you are drawn into a world that has love, fear, tragedy, and hope.

A family is unknowingly taken to a resort, a timeshare given to them by a friend, and their life is at risk of being ended. The book ends with a cliffhanger that makes you want to instantly purchase the next installment so that you can learn the end of the story.

whaaaaaat?

how could it end that way?!?! twists and turns and a great story. im really really hoping there's a second one -- with the way the author wrote this story i believe the second could be just as awesome. Even the narrator was perfect. able to switch between the different characters with ease.

Keeps you listening!

This book initially starts off kind of slow, but that’s because you’re being setup for when the ball really starts rolling. I really enjoyed the narrator as well, it felt like one of my friends was talking to me and telling me all about a family they knew. She has a very natural easy voice. When this book starts proceeding it goes non-stop. I found myself trying to search for more time to listen. The ending is a little bit of a cliff hanger, I’m hoping maybe there will be another book available or in the future! All in all, a great listen and I really enjoyed it!

What a thrilling ride!

This book had me on the edge of my seat right from the start and didn't let me relax even in the end. The narration was amazing and definitely brought the book to life! I loved all of the different points of view in this story and how they let you be able to put the puzzle together, I was impressed that the narration was able to keep up with the different POV and make the distinctions in the story so I knew which character was speaking.

Thrilling, great narration.

This book grabbed my attention right away and held it. The narrator did a great job with the various points of view. I was a little disappointed with the ending. I’m but sure if this is supposed to be a series or what. It felt like there should be more. Overall worth the read for sure though.
