About this listen

Turned into a vampire against her will, 28-year-old Merit found her way into the dark circle of Chicago's vampire underground, where she learned there was more to supernaturals than met the eye - and more supernaturals than the public ever imagined. And not all the secrets she learned were for sharing - among humans or inhumans.

Now Merit is on the hunt, charging across the stark American Midwest, tailing a rogue supernatural intent on stealing an ancient artifact that could unleash catastrophic evil on the world. But Merit is also the prey. An enemy of Chicagoland is hunting her, and he'll stop at nothing to get the book for himself. No mercy allowed. No rules apply. No lives spared. The race is on.

Excellent!!!

Any additional comments?

Another enjoyable installment of the series. Feel Sophie Eastlake's voice is similar to that of Cynthia Holloway. She made transitioning from the narrator of the first five books effortless.

Change the Narrator, Please!!!

I wish they had not changed narrator. It was very hard to distinguish which male was speaking or which female was speaking because there was not much difference between them. I do not feel that the characters had the true audio voice that they hade with Cynthia Holloway. I wish she was back.

The story itself followed the journey of Ethan and Merit. It was good. I did enjoy it and was very happy with the ending. I can hardly wait for their next big adventure and where their journey takes them.

Chloe Neill tells a very good story. I would have never guess what former Mayor Tate was. Please keep this series coming. I enjoy it so much. I didn't think I would when I picked up the very first one in the series. I thought it would be "fluff." But, I am hooked and glad to listened to it. Thank you for bringing this series to the world. It is good entertainment.

The only thing I wish would change is the narrator. Go back to Cynthia Holloway. She gave the characters their own audio voice.

Different Narrator than the rest of the series.

Where does Biting Cold rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The only thing I did not like is that they changed the narrator for the sixth book. After listening to the first five I got used to the voices for all the characters and couldn't view them the same way as the first five books.

Why? Just Why?

In the 6th book of the series, they decide to switch narrators. The first one had some annoying tics and difficulty with pronouncing certain words. Also, all her male voices tended to sound similar, like they all came from the same place, same accents. I had finally made peace with a good bit of that, not my favorite, but tolerable.
This one? Not sure I am going to make it through this book. If she does not stop making Ethan and Catcher sound like a poor man's valium laden impression of Anna Torv impersonating Leonard Nimoy during the most annoying episodes of Fringe, I may not make it out of fist chapter. I can only hope it improves.

Grand slam, Chicago style!

I admit I didn’t like the narrator in the beginning but her voicing of Merit was very close to the first narrator. It was her male voices that raised my hackles. However I adjusted quickly and noticed the benefits of Sophie. She can do Irish and British voices well. I look forward to hearing narrations in the future.

Now for the meat and potatoes! This book didn’t disappoint! I really love this series and have not been able to stop reading them. They are like Lays potato chips. Can’t have just one. :-)

Btw, as a born and raised Chicagoan, Super Dawg may be good but Gene and Jude’s is better. ;-)

Great Series...

I wasn't sure about this book series...the plot, the cover photo had be scared to use the credit. It was worth it. I have enjoyed all the books in the series even this one. However, while the narration isn't bad it also isn't Merit! Why do they do this...? Hours into a listening experience and they change a vital part of the experience? As with most books written in a series I wouldn't recommend this as a stand alone book and it is not the best book in the series.Felt more like a filler book with the added distraction of a new narrator. Personally I am still debating on if I will listen to any future books... guess it depends on the narrator and reviews by the fans.

Onward

This book really answered some questions and seemed to move the storylines forward. It gave us some answers we've been looking for and also seemed to finally end the will they won't they between Ethan and Merit. I'm looking forward to how things progress with the Greenwich Presidium and the house as well as the city in general. I found the foe in this particular book very interesting and I hope we see more of Seth in the future. I like how Merit really seems to be growing into herself as a vampire and is in general more confident in her skills. In general, I hate the switch of narrators in the middle of a series. I thought Cynthia Holloway did a great job in the previous books and read a bunch of reviews on how bad Sophie Eastlake was. I actually thought she did a good job. No, the voices weren't exactly like they had been but I had no trouble distinguishing who was who and I like the sound of her voice. I would have preferred to keep the same narrator but as a substitute, Sophie did a good job.

Better and Better

Each book gets better and more immersive. It's an addiction! I can't wait for my next credit to land so the story can continue.

Book 6

A good vampire series that blends mystery, suspense, and romance into an interesting story that keeps the audience actively listening.

Narrator

Love the story line but hate hate hate when you change narrators in the middle of the series. Wish that you kept the same narrator throughout the whole series.
