About this listen

Megan Sawyer should be shouting from the barn roof. Washington Acres survived its first year, the cafe has become a hot spot for locals, and Winsome's sexy Scottish veterinarian is making house calls-and not just for the animals! But as summer slips into fall and Winsome prepares for its grand Oktoberfest celebration, beer isn't the only thing brewing. When the town pub's owner is killed in a freak accident, Megan suspects something sinister is afoot in Winsome, but no one is listening. As nights grow longer and temperatures chill, Megan must plow through Winsome's fixation with autumn festivities to harvest the truth, before another dead body marks the season.

Festival Time and Bitter Rivalry

The little town of Winsome, Pennsylvania is planning their first Ocktoberfest and all the folks are excited that their small businesses will get recognition and exposure . . . until the snooty promoter, Ophelia Dilworth goes against everything in the rules and selects the largest farm in the county, the Sauer farm as the festival sponsor. Additionally the award winning small brewery was not selected either. With Megan smelling something fishy, she tries confronting Ophelia to no avail. Then out of the blue, Otto Vance, the brewer selected as the beer sponsor, is found dead in the middle of a solar power field . . . was there foul play? Megan wonders. Since she had overheard a heated argument between Otto and the other brewery owner in town, Ted Kuhl. With the townsfolk questioning exactly what was going on, the plans for Ocktoberfest move forward. But not without a lot of curiosity and some investigation by local police chief, Bobby King . . . and sleuthing by Megan, owner of Washington Acres organic farm and the local cafe. Grandma (Bibi), handsome Scottish veterinarian, Denver, Clover ( Bobby's girlfriend and cafe worker) are in this second installment of the series, as well as Clay, the farm manager. The tension continues to build as both Megan and Bobby, the police chief find inconsistencies in the coroner's ruling that Otto's death was an accident. And someone seems to be watching Megan's farm and house from an overlook above her home . . . yet the stranger seems to elude them . . . Great cozy mystery . . . great narration . . . excellent resolution . . .

Very entertaining

Very well written. This entire series is wonderful. Character development is excellent as you can really connect with every character. I loved this book and look forward to reading the rest in this series. Wendy Tyson does a beautiful job of keeping you guessing right up until the very end.
