A chilling ghost story from 1980s New England

James has lost his job as a hotshot Boston attorney and his idyllic marriage to Karen is on the rocks. In an attempt at rekindling their former life, the couple relocate with their children to the small town of Blackwater, Vermont and a grand Victorian Manor.

But the house has a history and a terrible secret.

A deathly menace lies in wait inside Blackwater House.

Would make a decent Lifetime movie.

Good for young adults. Narration was hard to listen to. While the narrator has a pleasant voice, she could not quite get into character mode though her NY and Jersey accents were spot on! The rest was monotonous. Kept drifting from Yankee to a northern Appalachian sound. I would listen to he again if the book was written in 1st person POV however. As for the story, as the title says, it would make a decent made for TV movie.

Don't waste your money.

The story had so many holes and unbelievable characters that I was surprised it made the list. I kept listening, thinking it would get better- it didn't.

i listened to 2 and a half hours of this book. They hadn't even made it to the house yet. All that time was spent setting up the characters. They had just brought the house when i stopped.

WOW!

It starts out slow hut it builds up. A really good book. The ending is awesome! The narrator is ok, I've heard better but still did a descent job.
