A more complicated story

This book by William Kent Krueger ends up being a much more complicated story then his previous writings. It is more about small-town life in Northern Minnesota them about Ojibwe culture and traditions. Still reasonably fast paced and enjoyable the narrative line of our hero continues to progress as does the complexity of his relationships with his family. Still a good read.

Chapter headings are all over the place

Great story and reader, but really screwy in the production. Goes to Chapter 7, then to Chapter 16, then 6 mins later to Chapter 18! It ends up with Chapter 47 when the book only has 20 Chapters. I think that the actual story is complete but .....

Very well written

This book has it all: good, complicated characters with secrets, a twisted plot and everyone has a motive to kill.

loved the series!

Great Storytelling and character development is why I really enjoyed the series. The editing on this one was a bit off. Some chapters needed with a quick announcement of the next chapter, putting a pause on what should have been a twist or revelation. The narration was done well and bonus for keeping the same narrator thought the 4-book series.

Terrific as always!

Performance was spot on. The story was gripping. I especially like the inclusion of the Native culture in the community depicted in the book.

Narration Was Off

I liked the book because I like the author. However, the narration was off. There wasn’t enough time between chapters. One chapter would end and then almost immediately the narrator said the number of the next chapter. It was startling. This was not an issue in the previous audible books.

Five star thriller

The narrator is fantastic. The story itself takes many twists and turns, was incredibly good, and kept us guessing throughout right to the end!

Excellent police thriller well narrated

There is a lot to like about the Cork O'Connor series by William Kent Kreuger. The novels a well written and the suspense is palpable. In this book ex-sheriff Cork O'Connor is a decent person with just the right amount of non-fatal flaws. The issue that keeps me from awarding this and other Kreuger novels 5 stars is the author's excessive (in my view) reliance on mysticism. For those without a similar objection this author and this series are a fine fit. I do recognize that the mysticism is my issue and will not put off most listeners.
