How do you catch a killer who leaves no trace?

A victim killed with a single, precise stab to the heart appears at first glance to be a robbery gone wrong. A caring, upstanding social worker lost to a senseless act of violence. But for Detective Kim Stone, something doesn't add up.

When a local drug addict is found murdered with an identical wound, Kim knows instinctively that she is dealing with the same killer. But with nothing to link the two victims except the cold, calculated nature of their death, this could be her most difficult case yet.

Desperate to catch the twisted individual, Kim's focus on the case is threatened when she receives a chilling letter from Dr. Alex Thorne, the sociopath who Kim put behind bars. And this time, Alex is determined to hit where it hurts most, bringing Kim face-to-face with the woman responsible for the death of Kim's little brother - her own mother.

As the body count increases, Kim and her team unravel a web of dark secrets, bringing them closer to the killer. But one of their own could be in mortal danger. Only this time, Kim might not be strong enough to save them.

A totally gripping thriller that will have you hooked from the very first minute to the final, dramatic twist.

Great story with a return of the psycho doc. Loved the two stories in one book!

The EVIL B*tch is BACK

I love the character of Kim Stone and her group of officers. Marsons books are great thrillers that keep you guessing..as soon as Amazon says a new one is out, I snap it up.

another great story

The narrator Jan Cramer brings me back! She is outstanding with the Kim Stone series.

DI Stone's life is brought to life by Jan Cramer

Well, for some reason, narrator Jan Cramer sounded quite a bit more lively in this reading. I listen to books because actually reading usually puts me right off into dreamland, so I was concerned after her reading of the last one in this series did just that several times! This time though, she was more upbeat and at a more even tempo. Well done Ms. Cramer, and of course Angela Marsons for another great...um, ‘read’.

Narrator kicked it up a notch...

This is a great book, intriguing until the end with different story lines.
This book delves deeper into Stones relationship with her mother and adds some satisfaction.
I have listened to the books out of order and it matters not.

Great listen

I have liked all of the books but this has been my favorite so far.

My favorite

Another fast paced DI Stone novel, entertaining, interest keeping, good detective work. There are several threads working in this book. The main murder mystery while also dealing with DI Stone's personal life, what's in her head, and how she deals with her arch enemy Alex, who is manipulating her from prison. In a certain sense this could be classified as a sequel to book #4. I like the short chapters.

a'gebre

Would you consider the audio edition of Blood Lines to be better than the print version?

I can't compare the two since I only own the audio version. Cramer does an outstanding job, however. She is one of my favorite narrators.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Bryant and Stacy and how they interact with Kim. They add humor to every book and humanize Stone.

Which character – as performed by Jan Cramer – was your favorite?

She is really good at transitions and, unlike some other narrators, everybody sounds different. It almost doesn't sound like the same actress doing all the roles. I can't really pick a favorite.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A nemesis returns ...

Any additional comments?

I do think that revisiting Stone's personal baggage is getting a wee bit old, however. I would like to see new characters and storylines to move the characters forward. I had hoped that Gemma would become like an adopted daughter for Kim. I can't say more about that since it would be a spoiler!

Another thrill ride from Marsons.

Blood Lines was my third Kim Stone "listen" and I have another waiting in the wings. The two main stories develop smoothly, and surprises abound. The smart, strong female protagonists are very well drawn, the evil one very cunning. Jan Cramer is always a brilliant narrator.

Great double plots and characters, very clever
