About this listen

Marie is a woman sold into a loveless marriage in a 1700s, second-world France. Under the close tutelage of the esteemed Lady Colette Valand, Marie has sewn a small corner of life for herself in their little town in the country-side. She even manages to find love and companionship in a secret affair with a prostitute, Alice. But Lady Colette has a few secrets of her own, and they all come to light on one fateful night when their bodies and futures are forever changed by a mysterious tin of tea leaves.

Dive back into the vampire lore first brought to you by Beneath the Bloody Aurora with this sapphic companion novella, and experience the turn that started it all.

What a spicy sapphic read! Vampire lesbians need I say more! Spicy with a good but simple plot. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to read more by this author.

A spice read

This was such a great story. I felt like I was listening to a sped up audio with how quickly things would happen in the story. I would definitely recommend listening to the audio if you are on a reading slump like me. Truly an enjoyable story.

So much to listen to in so little time!

I absolutely loved this book! The story circled around beautifully. The way Beka describes the characters turning into vampires was so vivid. It was a shorter book but I felt like I read a full length one! So much story jam-packed into this yet nothing felt out of place or too much. It was perfect if you want a timeless f/f romance with vamps and the full spectrum of emotion. Highly recommend

Short but jam packed!

I really enjoyed this story, I just got back into reading about 6 months ago and this was the first book of this type that I have read normally mine are a little darker lol but I really enjoyed it and the audio performance was amazing as well.

Sapphic, plus-size rep, vampires, hot AF spice... this litte book did not disappoint. I loved Beneath the Bloody Aurora but I love it even more after reading the prequel. As others have already stated, my one complaint is that it was too short! Despite that, the execution was fantastic. The expert placement of POV switches and the ability to create depth and intimacy between characters in a short-story style has me really impressed. Super engaging, delectable spice, and vividly painted scenes. I experienced the same un-put-down-able-ness I did with BTBA.

The narrator did such a great job bringing this to life.

well... im suffienctly soaked

The feminine love and devotion between the characters made me want to cry with happiness, despite their circumstances. I loved this book for the historical setting, the female empowerment, and the unbreakable bond that is Marie & Alice.

I would say I was really invested in the first half of the book, but the second half felt a little slower to me. I saw on the description on Amazon that this was a prequel to another one of Beka's books, and that helped explain why the second half was the way it was. It was good; just felt like a big change of pace from the first half but it makes more sense now that I know it is the prequel of Beneath the Bloody Aurora.

As always, Dahlia Summers is a stunning narrator. My favorite character voice was Alice's :)

Loved the Female Empowerment

This novella even though short, its full of life and context. It was beautifully narrated. Well completed story. Even though I wouldn't mind hearing some more. 😁

Short but good.
