About this listen

What if you could cultivate the mind of a bodhisattva -- one who has dedicated one's life to the benefit of others? According to Pema Chödrön, best-selling author and American-born Buddhist nun, you can. On Bodhisattva Mind, she examines sheshin, or "guarding alertness", and the other qualities of mind we need to develop on the path to enlightenment. "We all have a consciousness that knows what helps and what causes harm," says Ani Pema. "With this same ability, we can 'tame our minds', and extricate ourselves from suffering."

A practicum of insights and meditations from this cherished teacher, Bodhisattva Mind shows us how to connect with the spacious, clear, unbiased nature of our minds and experience the joy of complete freedom.

As a student of Buddhism this is a perfectly pleasant explanation and commentary on Santideva's Way of the Bhodisattva. I just love Pema!

I love Pema!

As always Pema Chodron invites in the listener to learn and integrate Buddhist wisdom through stories and anecdotes that are relatable and even funny sometimes. She talks about cultivating the mind through working with the dharma, and explores being with others and inviting them in to see the possibilities of an open mind. At least that’s what I am sitting with!

Could not have picked a better first audiobook! Make sure to listen to it slowly and really digest what she says.

I've read and listened to a number of Pema Chodron's books and this was one of her best.

One of her best!

While a novice student and practitioner of Buddhism, I am a huge fan of Pema Chodron. I found her commentary on this classic Buddhist text outstanding and accessible. I also read and re-read (I imagine I will read many more times in the future) her book "No Time to Lose" in which the audio is based.

A very thorough, thoughtful and modern take on the teachings. I just love to hear Pema Chidron teach, she never disappoints!

Just what I needed

My heart has been exposed, uplifted & lightened by the voice of Pema the joyousness of her class and the teachings therein.
So many good points that I am hard pressed to mention any one over the other.
Of course the main intention , I believe of this book was to help us see ourselves being of use to others whomever they may be.
To find my purpose or at least be conscious and awake through my individual journey. I look forward to learning and hearing more.
