About this listen

Someone is knocking at the door to Grace Adams' house, and he won't stop. Grace thinks she knows who it is, but when she goes to her second floor window for a look she sees a woman she doesn't recognize. The woman isn't alone for long before a man emerges from the dark of the surrounding woods, stabs her, and leaves her for dead. Trying to help, Grace goes to the woman and is shocked to find that it's her mother Leanne - a woman who abandoned her 11 years before. There's nothing she can do, and Leanne is already past the point where she can tell Grace what happened all those years ago or why she came back now. While Grace was only a child when Leanne left her, Detective Macy Greeley has been waiting for Leanne ever since she disappeared from Collier, MT. She's looking to close a case that has been haunting the town for far too long, but Collier is a hard-bitten place where the people are fierce when it comes to keeping their feuds between themselves and keeping secrets hidden in the past.

Karin Salvalaggio's outstanding crime fiction debut Bone Dust White is an absolutely stunning work that signals the entrance of a major new talent.

good story but the reader was ehh.

Story kept me listening but the reader would stop after every word. The sentences weren't fluid at all. it made it hard to relate to reach character. she had a pleasant voice overall.

Good mystery book, GREAT narration by Amy McFadden

Any additional comments?

Good mystery/thriller. A young Grace sees her missing mother get killed and finds herself being stalked by a sex trafficking killer that wants $ her mom stole from him. The story revolves around this young troubled girl, a very pregnant cop and the cops ex boyfriend who she hasn't seen for years. The ex boyfriend is the paramedic who finds the murdered mother and Grace on the brink of death. Grace has a morbid past of sex abuse, a serious heart condition, and a mother that abandon her 11 years ago. The narrator did a fantastic job with this book. Good suspense mystery and a good ending. All n all I enjoyed the book.

Not sure

Seemed like a lot of build up for nothing. I'm not ready to write off the author though. I will try again

Felt like I was listening to an abridged version

I hope I just misread and this was an abridged version as this has a lot missing from chapter to chapter

You can do better

Although it had promise in the first few chapters, it went downhill to a very predictable and boring outcome. I can usually bear a weak story if there is enough action and intrique on "whodunnit", but in this case there was very little that held my interest and I felt little connection with the central character Grace. I also did not enjoy the narrator and found her pace a bit too slow and deliberate to be enjoyable. I do see some hope in the character of Macy and I may give the second book in this series a go when it finally gets released depending on how some of the initial reviews come back. Overall, I give this book a below average rating.

No Suspense Here

What did you like best about Bone Dust White? What did you like least?

The narrator was the best thing about this book. It started out pretty well, but then got stuck, like an old record that kept playing the same notes over and over.. I kept reading, hoping it would get better, but that was a waste of time. The most interesting person in the story was the pregnant police detective Macy.

Would you recommend Bone Dust White to your friends? Why or why not?

No - for the reasons I gave above.

What about Amy McFadden’s performance did you like?

She was the best thing about this book.

Could you see Bone Dust White being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I really don't care if either happens. I wouldn't watch anyway.

Any additional comments?

I won't be reading any more books by this author, but I will look for more by the narrator. I'm so glad I got this on the Daily Deal and didn't waste a credit.

Like unwrapping a gift

Narration was good. Easy to listen to. Story continues to unwrap until the end. Very entertaining.
