About this listen

"The Darkness found me, and when I awoke, I became the most gifted Blood Witch my generation has ever known.

I am a weapon.

I am hunted.

I am everything they fear.

My name is Vivi Graves, and my story was never a fairy tale."

Life hasn’t been simple for the city of Thornfall’s best Blood Witch-turned-bartender. Shunned by most other witches, abused by the Academy of Elders, her love life is a dumpster fire, and even her sassy familiar doesn’t listen to a word she says. But at least she’s escaped the clutches of her corrupted mentors. Or has she?

When a terrifyingly sexy man shows up at her workplace, all shadows and temptation, her current reality starts to unravel. There’s no denying that he’s dangerous for her health - her heart isn't safe, either. But as their fates intertwine, buried secrets expose themselves and the past comes back to punish them both.

Is blood thicker than water?

Does love conquer all?

And in the depths of hell, can Vivi survive the flames?

There’s only one way to find out…

Born of Blood and Flames is a medium-burn, enemies-to-lovers, dark fantasy, adult paranormal romance.

This is not typically the style of book that I would purchase but I am so happy I did. I am looking forward to any and all books that will be following.

Way too many fantasy romance clichés, and the lack of conviction the main character has totally contradicts everything she says.

I'm hoping that the author learns to create more depth in the storyline and works to create more believable interactions.

I immediately disliked the main character with her supercilious wary attitude. Quiet a few paragraphs are devoted to her griping about a guy who had given her a dirty look the night before; then started griping about her ex. But, all of that was after she got through griping about her old school. I just felt that life is too short to keep listening to the whining.

Couldn’t get beyond chapter 1

Starting off, I knew there was going to be an issue. The narrator has such a bland voice and takes waaaaaay to long in between sentences. Where every single sentence ends like a chapter. There is probably 4 to 5 seconds of silence after EVERY SENTENCE. This is not an exaggeration. It somewhat got better halfway threw and by that I mean she narrowed it down to 3 to 4 seconds gap. Because of this I couldn’t get into the story. Is it a good story? I have no clue. No matter what happens, it’s the same tone. A fighting scene? Same tone. I found myself wandering off to other thoughts and when I tuned back in, its just to her being angry and wet.

I can sum up the book for everyone. Girl is weapon. Weapon is bad. She is evil but wants to be good. This is a rittle apparently. Even if your good your evil. Girl has sister. Man shows up. Girl is very angry (and wet) at man but we don’t know why (but very wet). Every time man makes appearance, she is angry he exists (and wet). Girl is now in danger. Why is she in danger. Everyone knows about girl except girl even though this information might save girl. Oh yah girl has sister. Everyone is saving girl from evil. Girl sees guy and girl is angry (and wet). Girl is weapon. Guy saves girl. Girl is angry at guy saving girl (and wet). Obvious Clift hanger that everyone sees coming. Tune in to book 2! More angry weapon girl (that’s wet)! Don’t forget she has a sister that randomly she remembers!

I have no clue what’s going on
