Publisher's summary

They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.

Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.

Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him.

And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

listened to it every spare moment I had!

This was my first audible book and honestly I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it, because I really love the feeling of disappearing into a book that's in my hand. The storyline of this book was really good it just sucked you right in and you wanted to know what was going to happen next. It was a lot gourrier than I thought it was going to be, the author was very descriptive with how the characters were dying and you could really see it. At first I wasn't sure I liked it but it really just sucks you into the story. I'm anxiously awaiting the second book to come out. The narrator read it just how I would have, and I really think it made it that much more enjoyable. If you're thinking about getting this book definitely do it, I don't think you'll regret it.

Not my favorite

I liked the story at the beginning. I liked the premise and found the characters interesting. The narration was very good.

I am not sure how to give my review without minor spoilers, so stop now if you do not want spoilers.

I thought the fleshed out parts were good, such as meeting Rob and Ruth. However, there were several parts where details were lacking, such as how other people (their attackers) knew location and information about Pestilence and Sara. Additionally, the third act break up was confusing. I was not sure why it happened. Then when they reconciled, I was disappointed in the apology from Sara. I found the story a bit like a roller coaster: disjointed or jerky with the stops for details and then quick rush of action without warning or explanation of what was happening.

Be prepared to cry your eyeballs out

This is my first book by Laura and I must say I was not expecting it to be so good. The development of the characters in the story is amazing and I could not stop listening. This is now one of my favorite books

Another winner from Laura Thalassa!

I absolutely adore the imagination, creativity, world building, character developments, comedy and romance that Laura masterfully weaves into everyone of her stories! There are reasons she is my favorite author and this book just gave me another:) I loved the pace of the book. It was scary at times, funny and sad.. with romance that was beyond yummy. Her lead characters are always my favorite as they are almost always flawed in some way yet strong and smart. They save the day and kick some butt:) while most of this authors works are more young adult (16+) this is more New adult 18+ for sure for language and sexual content. I can’t wait for the next book! Bring on War!!!

The performance was great.

The performance was great, I got this book sole because of the sample I heard and don't regret it. CAN'T wait for book two. Post world and slice of life romance. It kind of dragged on for a minute but it's an introduction for book 2, so I expected that much.

Great listen!

I absolutely loved this apocalyptic/paranormal romance. It’s a slow burn with an enemies to lovers feel. I’m gonna be honest that I didn’t know the Four Horseman story before going into this, but now I’m obsessed.

The narrator was perfect. Her ability to transform her voice into Pestilence was amazing and I loved her tone and inflections.

Perfect 5 star listen.

Captivating

The author has a captivating way of writing, and the narrator only enhances that. There was some questionable change of heart moments that would have benefited from more with additional dialogue and action on Pestilence's part. I didn't always understand or agree with all of Sarah's choices but I also understand that thinking differs when you're sitting at home, safe, or actually in a situation like that.

Loved this

It has the perfect mix of innocence and vulgarity to be perfect. The love is slow building and I love that. So many authors rush into love without building trust or a back story to the relationship. Cannot wait to start the next book!
