About this listen

Dear Axel,

It is incredibly stupid to write this text while I’m drunk. But what’s the saying? No gain, no pain. Or, no pain, no shame.... Whatever. You know what I mean. And let’s face it. There’s no way I would be doing this if I was stone-cold sober. But since I’m plastered? To hell with it.

I want you.

I know. Crazy, right? Not only am I your temporary roommate, but I’m a chatty nurse from Providence with an impeccable bedside manner and secrets. You’re a broody, commitment-phobe sculptor from England who communicates in grunts and single syllables. Not to mention, you’re returning home in several weeks. And yet, from the moment you dragged me for being a Swiftie, I’ve wanted to climb you like my personal jungle gym.

There’s no future for us. I’m not even sure I like you half the time. But that doesn’t stop me from hungering for those same hands that bend and shape metal to bend and shape me. So in all my drunken glory, I guess what I’m trying to say is if you want me, I’m yours. For the next few weeks until you return across the pond and we resume our lives as before. No strings. No demands. No regrets.

So meet me in the kitchen where all this started.

Or don’t.

It’s your decision.

Not that it matters. It’s not like I’m going to do something monumentally dumb like hit send on this text.

I would like to have known how Zenobia and Axel handled their living situation with his plans to go back to Britain. I didn’t care for his pet name for her, “Pet”. Still good story. Male narrator is sexy, but his female voices were off. Female narrator was too slow in parts and wasn’t consistent with male or British accent. Good story content though. Worth the read.

Good story but wish it was longer

Storyline almost seems like a repeat because Blakes brother is also supposedly Liam from British bachelor and in this book axle admits to being the only sign left of his parents so that’s kind of confusing to me because how many brothers can this dead person have. Although this is fictional seems weird to have brothers coming out of the woodwork. But character aside it was a pretty good listen

The story line was very well written with a twist I didn’t expect. The male narrator was excellent.

Not bad

Broody Brit by Naima Simone is HOT!! I listened to this read and Aria Addison and Will Thorne are absolute perfection.

Zenobia and Axel are from two different worlds. Literally two different continents. Their happenstance of being thrown together is a set-up for comic gold. However, these two are less funny and more what they each needed in that moment even though they didn't know they needed it. The way they help each other is so endearing. The comic gold comes when they think they're fooling their friends. I was laughing out loud!!

As a nurse, I tend to avoid any books that involve medical characters because their behavior in their professional capacity is often very unrealistic. This book had a couple of cringe-worthy moments in this aspect but because everything else was so good I could overlook it.

Swoony Brooding Brit

Another really good addition to the Hero Club novels but honestly I almost didn't finish it! 😭 Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the story and characters but Aria Addison wasn't a good choice on this one. She did an amazing job when it came to the female characters but ALL the men just sounded off and every time she was narrating Axel I just cringed. Half the time she butchered his British accent, and the other she gave him the same voice mannerisms as Zenobia.

Loved the story... but

Man, this book was slow. It took me a month to listen to. I really wish I got to see the main characters together more. And how did we not have an epilogue? It was okay. The male narrator is what did it for me. Had he not been in it I don’t think I would have finished the book.

I liked the guys voice!

Broody Brit was my second read by Naima Simone and it wasn't quite what I was hoping I would. It honestly felt like too much was trying to be written into their story with very little time to develop it all. And that threw me out of the story quite a bit.

I liked the narrators that were picked for this one and plan to listen to more by them.

I struggled with some of the British lingo, honestly never heard some of the terms that were used.

A little bummed this wasn't more of a winner for me. I will say that Axel's reactions while watching Grey's Anatomy were spot on! I loved those.

It was ok...
