About this listen

Hugo Award Winner for Best Series

The second book in the NYT best-selling Expanse series, Caliban's War shows a solar system on the brink of war, and the only hope of peace rests on James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante's shoulders. Now a Prime Original series.

We are not alone.

On Ganymede, breadbasket of the outer planets, a Martian marine watches as her platoon is slaughtered by a monstrous supersoldier. On Earth, a high-level politician struggles to prevent interplanetary war from reigniting. And on Venus, an alien protomolecule has overrun the planet, wreaking massive, mysterious changes and threatening to spread out into the solar system.

In the vast wilderness of space, James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante have been keeping the peace for the Outer Planets Alliance. When they agree to help a scientist search war-torn Ganymede for a missing child, the future of humanity rests on whether a single ship can prevent an alien invasion that may have already begun...

Featured Article: Our Editors Recommend—Further Listening for Star Wars Fans

With more than 150 books in the Star Wars audioverse alone, there's certainly no shortage of adventures in our favorite galaxy far, far away. But let's say you've absorbed the very best of both Canon and Legends, watched the films and television shows time and again, and have exhaustively played through extended universe games (video and tabletop alike). If you're looking for something new, our Audicted to Sci-Fi editorial team has you covered.

Gripping Storyline • Compelling Characters • Immersive World-building • Intricate Plot • Engaging Vocal Performance

The characters are compelling and have different agendas but it all comes together in the end. It's better than book one which only gives the two characters point of view. Also, the political and cultural factions are better explained in this novel. Look forward to book three.

Great story arc

I can't wait to listen to the next one. Amazing story lines. I wish the TV show did exactly like the book word-for-word.

Well written and with the possible mixing of one or two characters voices, very well read. Enjoyed it immensely but will have to slow down prior to Season 4 in December. 😥

Solid story

The performance is very well done and the book is well written. While not my favorite book(s) I've ever read it's a quality story with a lot of interesting plot lines.

I loved the political intrigue in this one! Made things very interesting and gave it a more human feel. I really felt like that is how government officials would behave under those conditions. Well done!
