About this listen

USA Today Best-seller Rhett C. Bruno's debut sci-fi series is a gritty, space-opera epic perfect for fans of The Expanse!

Earth is a dying planet. To survive, humanity founds the Circuit, a string of colonies across the solar system, dedicated to mining resources vital to preserving what remains of mankind. Here there are no heroes or villains, only those willing to do what's necessary to survive.

The New Earth Tribunal, a powerful religious faction, has risen to rule the Circuit. They believe a Spirit within the Earth will one day appear and welcome humanity back home. Following a string of seemingly random attacks, the Tribunal suspects its mortal enemy, the Ceresians, have again rallied to challenge their absolute rule. But a new, sinister threat has arisen - and it plans to bring down the Tribunal once and for all.

Join an unlikely band of would-be saviors - the Tribunal's best spy, a roguish Ceresian mercenary, a subservient android, and a disgraced general - as they are drawn into a conspiracy destined to change the Circuit forever.

"Bruno has crafted a complex, multi-dimensional story that combines the best of his genre with age-old truths - and quandaries - about humanity, politics, religion, family, and, yes, love." (Portland Book Review)

Some of the best Sci-Fi on Audible!

This is some of the best SF on Audible. The three books found within are set in the distant future. Its a true space opera in the sense that there's a need for a bit of disbelief suspension, but that's not a bad thing. Bruno does a great job of shifting between characters and plot lines and then back again. he built a wonderful world with the Earth uninhabitable and human settlements on the Moon and Mars, as well as on asteroids. It is violent, however not too graphic.

Just Under whelming

I cannot quite put my finger on exactly why the book was not enjoyable for me. I know the story just was not that interesting and it never grabbed me in any way. I had the makings of something very interesting but it just was not interesting.

I may listen to it again on a long trans-pacific air flight as a sleep aid.

Tough to complete

The idea of the story is good, but it just seemed to struggle to finish

Very good writing and narration.

Great book. Kept me engaged the whole time. Characters feel realistic and the book is written for the reader. Narration is one of the best imo. World building is interesting and imaginative. Would have liked a more impactful ending. Overall very enjoyable.

Great Story, Great Narration

This was a great sci fi story, exciting, touching and satisfying. the narration was flawless, save for one segment of a few minutes that seemed to be someone else and was a little distracting. overall a great experience.

Start to finish death-war-violent killing

The plot never deviated from its focus on deranged human civilisations constantly committing mass murder for delusional
Religious and political reasons.
The story ends when it runs out of characters to kill off.

I want to like this more...

and perhaps as time passes and my memories fade I'll remember it more fondly. I don't plan to give any spoilers here, but where are the good guys? Everyone's past is riddled with murders. Who ard we supposed to admire? Perhaps the enforcer that shoots people he likes in the head because his boss said to? Perhaps the religious zealot enforcer whose religion obviously does not preclude murder? Or maybe the good guy who wants to destroy the earth? Or the robot that kills anyone that the others might have missed, including the others themselves? I finished it, so 3 stars for that. The narration was easy to tolerate so 4 stDr's for not being annoying, but all characters sounded the same. Most of the book I preferred to read rather than listen to because my imagination does a better job. Ehhh...It's OK, but I will not look for the sequel that is obviously alluded to at the very, very end. I'm done and moving on.
