About this listen

Creepy fun for ages 9-12!

Camp nights or camp frights?

Every sleepaway camp promises memories that last a lifetime. But the memories from Camp Red Moon might give you nightmares!

  • The campfire appears to dim when the moon turns blood red and strange creatures prowl the forest.
  • Do you find a total lookalike at camp? Is it coincidence or is he a shapeshifter trying to take over your life?
  • Why don't your competitors at the robotics competition seem exactly...human?
  • And why do campers do anything to avoid Cabin 6?

The master of the scary story, R.L. Stine, has handpicked a staff of storytelling counselors - Dan Poblocki, Ellen Oh, and Justin Reynolds - to help him tell the creepy campfire stories that swirl around Camp Red Moon.

No matter how bright the campfire, get ready for some CHILLS!

About the Creator

R. L. Stine is one of the best-selling children's authors in history. In July 1992, Scholastic introduced his Goosebumps book series with Welcome to Dead House. These many years later, Goosebumps is now one of the best-selling children’s series of all-time—with more than 350 million English language books in print, plus an additional 50+ million international copies in print in 32 languages.

The Goosebumps series made R. L. Stine a worldwide publishing celebrity (and Jeopardy answer). His other popular children’s book series include Fear Street, (recently revived with all new books), Mostly Ghostly, The Nightmare Room, and Rotten School. Other titles include: It's The First Day of School Forever, A Midsummer Night's Scream, Young Scrooge, and two picture books, with Marc Brown—The Little Shop of Monsters and Mary McScary.

The Goosebumps TV show was the number-one children's show in America for three years. The episodes can still be seen on Netflix. More recently, R. L.’s anthology TV series, R. L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, won the Emmy Award three years in a row as Best Children's Show. Two Goosebumps feature films starring Jack Black as R. L. Stine were released in 2015 and 2018. The first film became the #1 film in America.

R. L. Stine lives in New York City with his wife Jane, an editor and publisher.

Meh

Mediocre stories, save for the second one which was interesting. The voice acting performance saved the experience for me though as the actors did their best to be engaging and believable.

Dull and boring, nothing exciting.

I struggled to finish it, it is designed for the kids. even though the narrator performance was great it's boring

Backyard Camping with this Audiobook! Awesome!

This was a timely free download during late October - did a whole backyard adventure camp out complete with s’mores & camp fire, all whilst listening to this book on my Bluetooth speaker until we all fell asleep. #Awesome and kids loved it!

Camp Red Moon

I always love when Audible originals have a full cast. It always seems to make the book more fun. I love R. L. Stine's work growing up. This was a lot of fun to listen to.

Haven't out grown it yet

So, I got starter reading R.L. Stine to my kids and watched the TV show with them. They are now in their 20's but I still enjoy Stine's work. These are good stories and the voice work is great. Typical Stine, a little scary and a lot of fun.

Gave me actual goosebumps!

Enjoyed it now at 48, as much as I did the series from my youth! Granted, these tales were a bit more frightening than I remember those being, but then again I think it took less to scare us 30 years ago! Kids now are more “sophisticated” (for lack of a better word) than we were! Although I think that fact is a bit sad, it’s just the changing world. We lived in simpler times, a lot has happened in our world in 30 years! My primary point is, I believe those of us who loved the tv series, movies, shows from the 80’s-90’s (Loved being 80’s kids!), will enjoy listening to these stories! It’s lighthearted & fun & still gives me goosebumps! Basically, a fun break from the turmoil of our world... especially this time of year! We are Christians & grew up that way, but were allowed to have Halloween fun (& all that entails as kids)! We were allowed “scary” tv, movies and books (along these lines) & never had any evil intention with any of it. (Aka...no, we didn’t “celebrate” Halloween as the devils birthday or holiday or whatever!) We celebrated life and the fun of being a kid & being a happy family, etc. (a fave quote from a book I got as a child...”it’s fun to be scared when you know it’s just pretend!”!
Sorry to drone on & randomly input information periodically that may not seem to fit...but for many ppl, these stories & this time of year can be troubling. I’m just trying to tie it all together by saying, “stay young with your babies & have fun with them! They grow up way too fast these days! Encourage them to be kids & join in with them-if that’s reading, trick or treating, bobbing for apples, carving pumpkins, etc. They’ll remember that more than any gift or any vacation for the rest of their lives! And it feels pretty good to hear them tell their kids those stories! God Bless!

Fun and Campy

Other people have said this is more targeted at kids, but to me it varies quite wildly between kiddy scares and adult horror. Its definitely campy, but if you didn't want camp you wouldn't have clicked on something labeled "RL Stine."
