About this listen

Sometimes, all it takes to start a fire is a single match...

Owen Larrabee is not my soulmate.

He wasn't when I confessed my love to him on his wedding day, and he isn't now. I should probably say that I wasn't the bride when that happened. I don't have the best timing.

He's got a temper, he's moody, and he has a history of being misunderstood and making big mistakes.

I, on the other hand, make pumpkin cupcakes, spend my Friday nights curled up with a beloved romance novel, and long to be kissed in the rain.

Owen is my best friend's older, off-limits brother and the only boy I ever thought I loved. Which is laughable because he only ever saw me as his kid sister's dorky friend.

But that was a long time ago. And I'm over him. Mostly.

Until he comes back to Harvest Hollow like some kind of hero, showing up just in time to pull me out of my burning house and make me feel all the things I told myself I'd never feel again.

But I have questions. Why is Owen back? And does he remember our secret friendship or the day I've spent the last eight years trying to forget?

I know better than to get hung up on Owen again. Especially now, when he's sworn off relationships and thinks romance is a farce. And I'm something of an expert—at least to the people who listen to my podcast, The Hopeful Romantic.

Never mind that nobody would guess their local bookshop owner is the one doling out popular weekly relationship advice.

Never mind that I'm basing all that advice on the hundreds (thousands?) of romance novels I've read over the years and not on personal experience.

And especially never mind that Owen is making me question everything I believe about all of it.

Can't Help Falling is a best friend's brother, childhood crush, opposites attract sweet rom-com with plenty of sizzle but none of the steam.

This was a great audio book. It was thought provoking for me. It brought together both ideals of practicality and romance and pulled them together in ways that made me see my own relationship differently. Thanks!

A really sweet and fun story! Loved!!!

Wow! This book and these characters totally captured my heart. It’s really funny that in the very beginning I wasn’t sure that I liked Emmy because her romantic notion seemed a bit over-the-top and silly. But I was very quickly drawn into the beauty of the relationship between her and Owen…And loved every bit of it.

I very highly recommend this book as well as the audiobook narration, which was incredible!

Delightful

Emmy thinks it's so important she builds a secret pod cast around it. Even when her best friend comes home, the one she'd pour her heart out to and confessed her love for years before, stands right in front of her with all the tingles and romantic images she can't see him as the right one because he's just not her version of romantic. Owen thinks he can't look at Emmy as more than a friend. He thinks expressing your feelings for someone should be in practical ways. When he decides maybe his feelings for Emmy could change,he has to decide if showing her he can be romantic to capture her heart is worth the effort to win the woman he loves. Sweet, funny, and a great HEA.

How important is romance?

I loved that their love story felt really realistic and not a quick to fall story.

Darling Slow burn love story

First off Fall, loved the fall vibes of the comfy bookshop. Emmy and Owen's story is so beautiful, and the author digs deep into territory that is dear to my heart. Owen has dyslexia and has some major insecurities from this. Emmy always sees his potential and heart. Beautiful story of self acceptance, love, and growth. Two pumpkins way up!

FALL-In love with this book!

i really enjoyed this story. i loved the descriptiveness of the way Owen helped Emmy through her panic attack. it put me there. i liked the juxtoposition of practical and romantical. sometimes in life the most memorable moments are the practical moments we experence with those we love.

I enjoyed this closed door romance. Courtney Walsh’s stories are always entertaining and upbeat. This story involves a best friend’s older brother who falls in love with someone he’s always loved.

Upbeat love story!
