About this listen

Before Logan Barnes was hockey’s hottest bad boy, he was my brother’s best friend … and my first crush. Oh, yeah—and the guy who ghosted me and broke my teenage heart.

Now Logan is back in Harvest Hollow, but not willingly. Recovering from an injury (and some bad press), he’s stuck playing for our minor league team.

Which means I’ll be working with him almost daily.

As the hockey team's social media manager, it’s my job to wrangle all the guys into filming TikTok trending videos. But Logan doesn’t want to be wrangled.

Turns out … neither does my heart.

Because my old crush never died.

And when Logan becomes my accidental fake boyfriend, those old feelings flare hot enough to melt the ice.

But this is all totally one-sided. Totally fake. Isn't it?

No matter what signals he seems to be giving me or how real things start to feel, I know Logan’s not home for good.

I survived Logan leaving me once. But this time, I’m not so sure my heart will recover …

Just Don't Fall is a small town, closed door hockey romcom with all the fake dating, brother's best friend vibes. You'll get smoking chemistry and characters to root for but NO spice. (Yes, you read that right—a low spice hockey romance.) Perfect for fans of sports romance who want a less heat.

Tropes:

  • Hockey
  • Fake dating
  • Brother’s best friend
  • Childhood crush
  • Slow burn
  • Workplace
  • Never been kissed FMC
  • Closed door/kissing only

Outstanding Sweet Romance

I am loving this series, and each one is so well done, and make me laugh out loud, have great stories, and make me want to refer them to my daughters, sister, and friends. I love all the characters, and the pink chair has an adorable piece too! Great work Emma St. Clair!

Wonderfully Swoony! Loved It!

Well, it may not be fall right now, but I am loving jumping back into the Sweater Weather series! This is the first book of the series and I had previously only read the last book, which also features the hockey team, the Appies. From everything I had heard about this story, I expected to really enjoy it. And I truly did. It is one of those books that I didn’t want to end because it is simply that good. And I have to add that it was spectacular in audio! I really enjoyed the dual narrators.

Just Don’t Fall was a wonderful combination of the fake dating trope, along with a great sports and celebrity theme, as well. There were also some brother’s best friend vibes (they were friends in the past) as well as unrequited love (Parker had a huge crush on Logan when they were teens). I loved watching them fall in love as adults. Logan’s eyes were definitely opened to the grown up Parker. And Parker had to admit to herself that her crush on Logan never went away.

This story was packed with so many wonderfully swoony moments. It was also a lot of fun to read. There were so many times that I laughed out loud during this book. Logan and Parker had a great dynamic that came not only from attraction, but also from being two people who had a background of friendship and shared experiences together. They also both carried insecurity regarding each other. Even after they had fallen for each other, they were definitely hung up on the “what ifs” regarding Logan’s career and whether the other person could actually truly want them. Speaking of dynamics…the Appies team dynamic was so great! I loved the way the team interacted amongst themselves as well as with their “Boss”, Parker.

Just Don’t Fall was a wonderful and clean romcom with plenty of swoony moments. This is one that I know I will listen to again many times in the future.

Favorite so far!

I’ve been listening to all of the books in the sweater weather series and THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE!! The story is similar to one of the other ones, but this one is so romantic and so adorable! I love it! Also, the voice actors add so much to the story and make it so easy to imagine the emotion behind each line. Great job!Probably will be reading this one again soon!

Felt a little too YA

The story was cute and cozy. But the main female character’s inner dialogue often felt more fit for a teen than an adult.

It's the mutual pining for me...

The greatest thing about this book was knowing that Parker and Logan would figure it out in the end, because DANG, they tried so hard to break their own hearts... and mine. I may have paused to step out and scream a few times.

What I loved:
❤ Nicknames
❤ The male narrator's affectionately familiar tone with Parker's nickname- Excellent voice acting for both
❤ Childhood memories
❤ Professional Parker

What I really, really loved:
❤❤ Post-its
❤❤ Fancy Chair
❤❤ Their protectiveness of each other's COMFORT and BOUNDARIES
❤❤ The Fidget Ring
❤❤❤ Chapter 17 and CHAPTER FREAKING 22

The line that made it to MY Post-it wall: "Maybe it's not too much. Maybe you've just grown used to not enough."

Cute YA

It’s a cute story but very YA. There isn’t even a kiss until the last hour of the book. 15 year old me would have loved this. As an adult, it was a little slow and boring. All characters were grown adults but acted like young teenagers.
