Publisher's summary

Losing your ability to speak at the age of 17; it's not normal or fair. But trauma has a way of throwing normality out the window.

Dani lives anything but a normal life: her sister is married to one of the biggest names in Hollywood, her best friends are rock stars, and she has more love around her than most people experience in a lifetime. But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead, or that it's her fault. It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside.

That is until Hollywood's newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene hires her as his assistant for the summer. He's gorgeous, completely unavailable, and unobtainable. But that doesn't stop her from wondering, if things were different, would he want her? If she was whole, would he be the other half?

Great story

I enjoyed the story around these two. Definitely need to read the seaside series. It refers to those characters so much. This is a good young adult book because the steamy parts are non existent but it didnt take away from the love story of a girl that survived a traumatic loss and a Hollywood heart throb.

loved it! The humor is so relatable.

Of all the authors I've read, I have yet to find one with the creative humor Rachel Van Dyken captures in her characters.

Enjoyed

Dani we met in Fall, but this is her story of her struggles after the accident where she lost her parents. Lincoln is a Hollywood actor who is in Seaside to be in Jamison’s story of AD2 and Nat. I enjoyed the story and seeing more of the gang from the Seaside novels, In addition, we meet Zane, who I am looking forward to his story next.

Not bad

The story is sweet. I wish I would have known it was more for teens. Since the girl in the story is 17.

Dani and Linc

First, let me say I love how RVD writes stories that can make you laugh, cry and understand some pretty emotional stuff people go through, without it becoming a book you look back on and say, "I don't think I can emotionally handle a re-read/listen of that one today". I read or listen to audiobooks daily (it's an obsession) and I can honestly say she is in a very elite group of a very few authors who I have found have this talent.

This story is about Dani, who lost her parents in a car accident while she was in the car with them at the time. The mental and emotional trauma of this causes her to lose her ability to speak. She only communicates with her sister and friends by text. As a way to help pull her back out of her shell a bit, her sister Pris sets her up to be a personal assistant on set for Linc, a famous actor who Pris is starring alongside. Linc is a total sweetheart and plays a crucial roll in her recovery.

Both narrators do an excellent job by keeping you engaged in the story, as well as giving the many characters distinct voices so that you aren't lead to wonder which character is speaking.

Amazing performance to a wonderful story

I’ve had this book on my kindle for a long while, just haven’t had the chance to read it so I was very happy to see that it was available as an audible. I am huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken. If you have read her Seaside series, you will recognize the main characters as supporting characters from that series.
The author did a wonderful job with this spin off series and it was so great to catch up with prior characters.
The narrators Peter Coleman and Brittany Pressley are new to me, but I look forward to listening to other books that they narrate. The narrators really brought this story to life and made it difficult when I had to stop listening. They were able to voice the emotions that Dani and Lincoln were experience from fear to laughter and everything in between. I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of this series. As these narrators have made this great series even more intriguing.

Good Story but some might get hung up on age

The H is 22 and the h is 17 (a month from 18) when the instant attraction begins. A lot of focus is put on age and in this case, it was overblown. If she was 15 or just turned 16, that would be different. If having a main character being 17.9 years old bothers you, please avoid all Disney Princess Movies!

Love the Seaside Series

Love the Seaside series, but I really don't care for the male narrator. He is nasally & doesn't sound like a sexy male protag to me. Throwing me off every time his chapters were read.

Repeat chapter error?

Would give more stars in performance but chapter 30 is repeated at 7 min and about 30 sec in.
