About this listen

Five years ago, a supernatural virus changed the world as we know it. What was once the stuff of fantasy and bad horror movies suddenly is reality - werewolves and vampires exist. It isn’t the end of the world, but for Korban Diego and Sophie Bane, it often feels as if it is.

Lost in the deep forest of the Adirondack Mountains, Korban and Sophie’s journey continues. While their wolves feel right at home in the woods, their human halves remain conflicted. Returning to the comforts of civilization means going back to face a harsh reality, and it is tempting to vanish in the wild and leave their worries behind.

Things become even more complicated when their paths cross with new werewolves who also call this territory home, but out in the wild, there is a thin line between friend and foe.

Incredible Sequel!

I loved how the romance heated up, and the action and mystery returned in book 2! That ending though!!! I'm off to listen to book 3 now!!! Torian does it again as a fantastic, lively narrator. He really brings this story to life! I loved how distinctive the voices were again. Definitely recommend checking this out if you are a fan of Patricia Briggs or Laurell K. Hamilton! I can't wait to listen to the next part!

improvement on a story elevate it: Good to Great

Captured Moonlight is where Erin Kelly hits her stride. Book 1 struggled with perspective shifts. Book 2 has no issues with this. Book 1 lacked a solid villain until the last few chapters. Here, we have a loathsome character in Davie, and he is what propels you through the story. Book 1 had a lot of moments where everyone was confused on where to go. Here, we have one central tension which serves the reader very well.

My only complaint is that there is a sex scene early on which feels out of place. Werewolf stories tend to fall into this trope, but I feel that if you stripped the sex scene, you would not find yourself missing it.

I also must protest against cliffhanger endings. Yes, they are great fun and great market, but I do not like to wait on a new release to get a satisfactory ending. here, at least, the cliffhanger begins a NEW central tension, rather than drag on the existing central tension.

Torian Brackett is phenomenal here. By book 2 he has found every character's voice, and they all sound distinct. Extra Credit must be given to him for the climax of the story, where every named character save two are present. There are 13 characters in one room, and you are ALWAYS crystal clear where there stakes and the characters are. This is no small feat of writing lr narration.

Thankfully as well, book 3 is coming soon , according to Social media of the author and narrator.

if you bounced off book 1, start here. and if you loved Book 1, you need this one in your library right away.

Highly Recommend to Adult Urban Fantasy Readers

Captured Moonlight is book 2 in the Tainted Moonlight series following the story of Korban Diego and Sophie Bane.

Korban and Sophie find themselves deep in the Adirondack Mountains, conflicted. They face consequences back home. So, they decide to stay in the wild just the two of them just a bit longer. But they aren't alone in the wild like they think. Something sinister has laid traps in the forest and soon Korban and Sophie find themselves separated - the consequences that await them back home seem like child's play to what they now face.

The romance was long awaited (but a bit steamy) and the story line was well executed. Torian Brackett did a fabulous job once again with his narration. I will say I was a bit disappointed that my questions from book 1 were not answered, but I love Korban and Sophie so much that I will happily listen to more of their adventures. Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars, and I would highly recommend it to adult readers of urban fantasy.
