About this listen

In the aftermath of a vicious battle between darkness and light, the city of Elantra has emerged victorious. But Shadows continue to haunt every corner of its streets....

Elantra stands strong, but countless numbers of Hawks, the city's staunchest protectors, were lost in the brutal attack. Humans, Barrani, Aerians, Leontines - none of the races emerged unscathed from the defense of the city. Homes were lost, families were scattered - and the outcast Barrani Lord Nightshade is missing from his castle in the fiefs.

Yet as the chaos surrounding the battle begins to wane, Private Kaylin Neya's duties must resume, despite her grief. Called in to investigate a triple murder in a quiet part of town, Kaylin and her companions are soon embroiled in a case that is anything but routine. Evidence of the deadly Shadows that still threaten the city leads to hints of ancient, forgotten magics - and everything can be traced directly to Ravellon, the heart of the Shadows and the darkness they contain.

But it is there that Lord Nightshade will be found - if he still survives.

Great

Another in a wonderful series. I do find some of the explanations to be long winded.

most wonderful..as usual!

perfect narrator for this perfect series!!! i can not say enough good about this author. there is something special in her thought process that comes across most beautifully in her writing. the revelations about the main character's inner thoughts about herself, her actions and reactions towards her own feelings and ways of thinking, where she was wrong or intolerant, and her acceptance and change make the reader reconsider their own beliefs and errors in judgement. very thought provoking and humbling.

i always have a sense of peace within myself each time i realize ... yes! that's it! ... having your own feelings put into words is so satisfyingly validating, especially as you could not find the right way to express yourself and your thoughts.

because kaylin naya is older now, with ten books before this one, you see more maturity and growth in her. i will say i'm ready for her to get past her months with barron, which badly scarred her and she is still unable to deal with. i enjoy her relationship with severn and lord nightshade and hope the choice, when it comes, between the two doesn't leave the one not chosen with a feeling of loss as i like them both. nightshade does seem to be going down a less than hoped for path at this point. i guess i'm really hoping for a fairy tale outcome for him. although considering the mortal, immortal thing, severn would be the better choice... guess we'll have to wait and see.

khristine hvam will always be the only voice of kaylin naya to me. she does it perfectly.

Excellent series, and…

I love this whole series. It’s vibrant and full of rich emotional texture. The motivation of each character comes across in each word.

For this story, though, if the question “What do you see?” and all of its variations were removed, this book would be a full two hours shorter. So listen to this book only when you have patience for the characters in your emotional rank.

And, there is a fair amount of repetition of info in the series , like mentioning EVERY TIME Grethan is mentioned, the whole story of how he’s ‘deaf’ is explained-every time.

Overall, the story is good enough to push through these issues.

It has it all!

I loved every book in this series. Is there more? There has to be. Rare to find a series this long that each book is spell binding, riveting and leaves you wanting more! Writer and narrator are behind wonderful!

Have enjoyed this series

I have been listening to this series of books from the local library for a few years. Have now purchased entire series to listen to at my leisure over and over again.
Katlin is a well rounded character and the story is well told and consistent within Elantra.
Kristine Hvam does a great job of narration by bringing the story to life.

Thank you both

I love these novels

Narration is great. Story is great. I'm always happy when the new Sagara books come out, and I'm happy audible lets me listen while I work. My husband owns the novels, I have the ebooks and audible. :)

Fabulous series

If you could sum up Cast in Honor in three words, what would they be?

Excellent storyline continues!!
Another great audio book from Michelle Sagara !
I thoroughly enjoy the entire set!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cast in Honor?

Kaylin trying to convince Moran to live with her; taking her to see Helen and walking in to the "Aerie" Helen created.

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've only listened to the Cast series and I think she is wonderful!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes- I listen to it over and over!

Any additional comments?

Ready for the next one!!

I have been engrossed in this story

Since I found the first book in this series I have been fascinated by the rich tapestry of the Elantran universe. From Marcus snarling to the intriguing glimpse into the dragon court, private Kaylin Neya has shown glimpses of magic and drawn a fine line between good and evil.
