I tried to get over it's slow pacing I'd hoped the next book would have more going on it just feels like nothing of importance happens in every book inching closer to a boring conclusion. I always feels on the verge of something happening like a tease without real pay off. I've no complaints of the narrators.

Extremely slow pacing.

Some sexuality, including taboo sexuality, the characters are well set into the storyline. I can’t wait until the third book in the series is available in audible format.

Like the first book in the first book in the series, a fun read

Review is for the series as a whole.
Anya Merchant is known for her pseudo-incest stories with fantastical elements, although it isn't as prevalent in this series as some.

The prince (adopted) is on a quest to become more powerful and become king, so his mother won't have to service whatever slob is in charge. He also has relationships with women he's known since he was a child and an aunt (by marriage), but frankly the adopted mother is the only relationship that feels incestual.

I had low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. The sex isn't as huge a part of the story as you might think. Instead, this is an epic tale of a naive (but privileged) young man who gains supernatural powers and allies and goes through incredible trials and tribulations in his quest to become king. There are huge, continent-spanning plot developments, and the author isn't shy about killing off characters at times. There is some humor to lighten the mood here and there.

One of the magic systems used in the series is interesting and a little different - it consists almost entirely of opening portals to other realms. You don't cast a fireball, you open a portal to a realm of fire, and the same goes for other magical effects.

I will say that I found the protagonist hard to like. Yes, he's the hero, and there are reasons to feel sympathy for him, and he does in some ways mature emotionally a little, but still... he's kind of a jerk and is overall selfish, impulsive and immature. On the plus side, props to the author for not having an overly perfect and flawless hero. Still, maybe he has a few too many flaws.

Overall, the series was pretty good, although I still prefer the "Domestic Decay" series.

Note: the 8-book series is complete.

Epic fantasy series

I really enjoyed Castle town 2. The second book is better than the first. There is more intrigue, more adventure, and more depth of character. The narrators are excellent really bring the book to life.
I highly recommend this book.

Beautifully written and wonderfully imaginative story telling that grips the hart as well as the mind. A.M. has turned fantasy in to an amazingly erotica and fun journey that I can not put down.

Author love.

Book was great, these two narrators are absolutely fantastic. I’d say this is the best work by Anya’s I’ve listened to. A job well done if you’re somehow reading this!

I think this is a good continuation of book one but it is much slower paced than the first book do it took some time to get into it

Good continuation from book one

let me start by saying the dual narration here worked extremely well. both Giancarlo and Hannah did an amazing job with their respective roles. I felt the passion, the hurt and the rage in each of them.

now I'm moving on to the story. I was floored by the implications that this novel left me with. there are many new threats that have popped up and unlikely/ reluctant allies. this novel is a trip and I really hope we get to see some more of Vest in future.

I can't wait to see the way this goes. bring on book three!

a wonderful continuation
